Kembla Grange Tips 23/02/2023

Our form expert provides Kembla Grange tips for today’s horse racing at Kembla Grange Racecourse and gives his best bets.

Race 1:  No.1  COPPER MOON  ($2.50 with Ladbrokes)

Locally-trained by Kerry Parker, COPPER MOON made a big impression on debut and looks all set for back-to-back victories here. The Super One gelding stepped out onto this track for the first time three weeks ago and proved too strong in the run home, winning by more than a length on the line. He ran his last 600m, 2.2 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best here by 2 lengths. He also recorded the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race. A big effort on debut in Class 1 company, on a Heavy 9 that day. He carries 4kgs more here today but will strip fitter for that debut win and still looks the one to beat.

Race 7:  No.13  ESSONNE  ($7.50 with Neds)

Warwick Farm galloper, ESSONNE, makes her track debut today and already turning heads elsewhere, looks right in the mix here. Last start, the Reliable Man mare had the misfortune of losing Chad Schofield out of the saddle shortly after the start. Prior to that, she took out a BM72 Hcp over 1250m at Canterbury. She posted the fastest final 200m sectional that day carrying 60kgs to the line. Lightly-raced, the four-year-old has managed to score four times from just eight starts to date and Chad Schofield remains aboard for another crack here. All four victories have come on soft tracks so the scene looks set for another big performance today.

Race 8:  No.5  AUSBRED BLUEBIRD  ($9 with Palmerbet)

The Brad Widdup-trained AUSBRED BLUEBIRD is third-up today and coming off five-straight podium finishes, she has the runs on the board to warrant plenty of respect in this contest today. Last start, the Teofilo mare drew wide ( 9 of 10) and settled mid-field before taking over on straightening and looked set for victory, but her condition gave out over the final 100m and she had to settle for third prize. She was one run short that day but will strip fitter here. Both her career wins to date have come on soft tracks so today’s forecast Soft 6 will be ideal. Brett Prebble sticks with her and drawn well in gate five, she looks a genuine each-way chance today.
