Morphettville Tips 13/04/2024

BEST BET 🏆

Race 4 No. 8 AUSTMARR – ($2.40)

Flemington trainers Anthony & Sam Freedman sent their filly AUSTMARR to Morphettville Racecourse on Adelaide Cup Day. She ran out a visually impressive winner against the older horses in the Listed Manihi Classic. More importantly, Austmarr smashed the clock in doing so. Jaime Kah allowed her mount to stride to the front at a fast clip before Austmarr booted further clear into the straight. The Redelva Stakes this year looms as a match race between herself and Stretan Angel. Really don’t see the locals posing a threat to the duo and we don’t mind seeing Austmarr being drawn towards the middle where it’s expected that she’ll have far too much pace for those such as Stretan Angel who have drawn in. The set weights and penalties conditions of the race also advantage to Ausmarr who is a horse on the up.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 8 No. 13 CLIMBING STAR – ($5.50)

Phillip Stokes also brought his mare CLIMBING STAR to Adelaide for an impressive win soon after Cup Day in the Listed Matrice Stakes. She was racing first-up over six-furlongs here when she managed to amble over and sit outside the leader from her wide gate. The speed was on with Climbing Star making it look easy under Lachlan Neindorf. Climbing Star put a gap on her rivals when asked from Neindorf to demolish her rivals in quick time. Climbing Star meets a higher grade again on Saturday while giving the impression that she still has far more to offer. Has fared better at the barrier drawn while coming back 100m in what should be a fast-run race.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 1 No. 6 WOLF PRINCE – ($10)

Murray Bridge trainer got the best out of WOLF PRINCE as the stayer returned to winning form at Oakbank last start. It was only a provincial 2150m event on the Monday, however the dominance of the win cannot be ignored. Jason Holder settled Wolf Prince by the tail of the field with the pace on up front. He then made a lightning move to circle the field and hit the front a long way from home. This is as per the horse’s usual pattern and Wolf Prince did not let-up. He raced away to score by ten-lengths while impressing on the clock. These stayers aren’t showing a lot of consistency with each getting their turn in the winners stall. When one of Young’s horses finds form they tend to keep it.
