BEST BET 🏆

Race 4 No. 5 RICH GINA ($5.25)

Loved the recent barrier trial of perennial #SABlackbookers horse RICH GINA. Dom Tourneur stays with the classy Peter & Belinda Blanch trained race mare following the trial. She showed more early dash than usual after being the quickest into stride. Dom didn’t ask of her as Rich Gina led under her own steam until late in the trial when See You In Heaven and Ironclad went on by late. Those two horses both contested a Group 3 over 1200 metres first-up last week with the former running away as a convincing winner. Rich Gina herself has had two starts this track and trip for two second placings while also racing well first-up. The small field suits and Rich Gina can be getting over the top of them late with her superior turn of foot.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 6 No. 9 BONNIE GANGSTER ($6.10)

Ride of the day from Justin Potter saw BONNIE GANGSTER get home as an impressive winner first-up. Potter followed the speed with Bonnie Gangster before coming off the fence to produce into the straight. She cleared out to win in sharp time relative to the day with her last run as a 3yo. Goes to a benchmark 67 rating now and will get in with half a kilo weight relief should Grant Kluske target another BM68 race. Bonnie Gangster did not only beat the fillies and mare’s field; she also ran a time of nearly 4L faster while coming home close to 2L quicker than BM68 run earlier. Query second-up here is running on the Parks track now as opposed to the outer. She’s a handy sort of racemare Bonnie Gangster, and we’ll be sticking with our Black Book.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 9 No. 12 THE ICE CUTTER ($41)

Grant Kluske prepared THE ICE CUTTER to win a Murray Bridge maiden with the runner-up since knocking a race off at Gawler. Kluske then sent The Ice Cutter back to Gifford Hill, this time in a metro BM68 race. This was one of the rare races on the card where they ran along okay through the early part and completed a good overall time. The Ice Cutter found a handy position in running under Justin Potter before throwing the race away with poor racing manners into the straight. He was inclined to lay-in badly and was unable to be fully tested to the line. He was not beaten far straight out of maiden grade to a 68 and is eligible for easier. We generally observe that horses who lay badly such as The Ice Cutter tend to improve around tracks with a bend rather than running up the big straight of Murray Bridge.
