A bumper 10-race card at Albion Park and the Daren Garrard-trained six-year-old gelding BUMPER chases a hat-trick of wins after winning over the 1660m at his recent two starts. He raced 1 out 1 back two starts ago to win in 1:53.9 and was in the same position at the bell last time when scoring in 1:54.1. Barrier one looks perfect as Bumper steps up to the 2138m, which isn’t his preferred distance. He should go very close tonight.
The Chris Frisby-trained four-year-old gelding UNCLE JORD should prove hard to catch from the inside draw over the short course. A winner last start, Uncle Jord was an even-money favourite as he sat parked to score in 1:57.7 at Redcliffe. His previous runs had been excellent in defeat, including a narrow third and second to Love My Sister. Two starts ago he worked hard in 1:56.6, 54.9, for the 2138m journey. This field has some depth but Uncle Jord gets the plum draw and should take some catching with driver Shane Graham in the sulky.
Five-year-old gelding COOLIE KID gets a draw that should see him finish in the placings after a pair of unplaced runs from poor draws. The Donny Smith-trained runner was a winner five starts ago when racing outside the leader in 1:57.4 for the 2138m. Drops back to 1660m here and four of his six career wins have come over sprint distances so he should be in the finish with Matt Elkins driving.
A small field of six runners but this should be a treat with Maywyns Best, Our Uncle Sam, Ashley Locaz and Colt Thirty One ready to do battle once again. It was Colt Thirty One getting the better of rivals last time and the 28.1 last quarter certainly helped the winner run down the leading horses. The smaller field should help Colt Thirty One, but happy to go against him. ASHLEY LOCAZ was a winner two starts ago winning against easier company. His last start second in 1:51.2 was good and he should be amongst the action at the finishing post.
