Barrier Draw & Field declared for All-Star Mile
The all-important barrier draw has been conducted for Saturday’s $5 million All-Star Mile (1200m) at Flemington Racecourse.
Injuries have robbed the race of some star power but the richest mile race in the world still boasts a quality line up through public voting and wild cards.
Annabel Neasham’s Zaaki has drawn the outside gate in a field of 15 and will be looking to go one better second-up having tasted defeat in the Blamey Stakes (1600m) when run down late by Inspirational Girl.
They went slow early in that event and Inspirational Girl simply had the superior turn of foot and Zaaki can no doubt improve on that effort with some fitness in the bank.
Inspirational Girl has fared much better in barrier 4 and will be looking to swoop again and claim the biggest win of her career.
Other than Inspirational Girl, Sierra Sue is the only other last start winner in the race having taken out the Group 1 Futurity Stakes (1400m) last start defeating Mo’unga and Tofane.
Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr’s leading charge, I’m Thunderstuck has drawn the inside gate and will need some luck getting clear at the right time.
