BEST BET 🏆

Race 3 No. 5 BURNYA TO SURVIVE – ($2.30)

Jason Miller sent BURNYA TO SURVIVE to score an impressively first-up last time in on Northerly Stakes Day. Punters sent Burnya To Survive around as the popular elect in a wide-open betting affair. Supporters had no need of concern though with Pike guiding him home in the last to win like an odds-on pop! The pair had to do it against the grain of the day by settling near the tail of the field early. Speed up front was solid and Burnya To Survive loomed ominously while turning as the widest runner into the straight. He looked ultra-impressive in the way that he let down to the line before going on to repeat the dose second-up. He’s had another break since and the small field should suit with Clint Johnston-Porter aboard.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 6 No. 3 PLANET CASH – ($6.50)

Hayden Ballantyne has had to watch PLANET CASH do it the hard way at his past couple. Settled towards the rear over 1400 metres here two starts back when strung-up for galloping room. Lucy Warwick had the horse out when the race was all over with Planet Cash finishing hard late behind All The King’s Men. The pair weren’t the quickest away again when staying to track and trip. Warwick quickly had Planet Cash up into a good position despite that tardy beginning. She still had to shoulder him into the clear well inside the 300 metres with Planet Cash carving out a convincing win. There would not seem to be a concern with the step-up to the mile, just hope Lucy can get him in handy enough with cover.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 4 No. 7 GUARD THE SAFE – ($13)

We scored in the last as the Pontiff guided GUARD THE SAFE home during a midweek Class three race recently. Guard The Safe went in fourth-up and ready to peak following his placing behind city-bound Hola Marea. Harvey may have found himself a little closer to the speed in that race than he would’ve liked. That was his first ride on the horse who responded to his urgings into the straight despite the inside horse laying-out. Was clearly looking for the seven-furlongs that day as he rolled forward under Harvey again. Guard The Safe continued to respond all the way up the straight to grind out a gutsy win. Stays to trip and drops a kilo for Saturday grade.
