BEST BET 🏆

Race 2:  No.5  HILLCREST AVENUE  ($1.90 with Neds)

The Stuart Kendrick-trained HILLCREST AVENUE looks a promising type and third-up today will take beating here. Last start, the English-bred gelding did it the hard way but still managed to break through for his maiden win over the mile at the Sunshine Coast. Drawing the outside gate (12) and carrying 59kgs, he settled at the rear and turning for home, came wide and wore the leaders down to arrive just in time to collect the major prize. The grey covered his last 600m, 2.3 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best here and posted the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race. The extra distance today looks ideal for him here and drawn much better in gate three, he looks the testing material in this contest.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 3:  No.1  GLAMBORGINI  ($2.80 with bet365)

The Chris Anderson-trained GLAMBORGINI has made an impression in her six career-starts to date and looks the one they have to catch here. Last start, the Better Than Ready filly was fresh off a lengthy 17-week break when she led all the way to take out a BM62 over the 860m sprint at Gatton. With 58kgs to carry, she hung on gamely to win, recording the fastest final 600m and 400m sectionals in the process. Jake Molloy has the reins today and after his claim, the filly carries less weight here and gets the gun-run from gate one. Tactics could be interesting here with other early speed contesting this event but fitter for her first-up effort, she still looks the one to beat.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 8:  No.7  IF YOU CAN DREAM  ($4.60 with Ladbrokes)

Tony Gollan saddles-up IF YOU CAN DREAM here and third-up today, looks a real threat to this field. Last start, the well-bred So You Think mare showed plenty of improvement when finishing fifth in a BM65 Hcp over 1350m at Ipswich. Held up at vital stages in the run home, she was beaten less than two lengths on the line, running her last 600m, 1.8 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best in this line-up. Runner-up when third-up last preparation, she has placed here at her only start at the track and placed three of five over the trip as well. Fitter for two runs back, she can give this a real shake today.
