Rockhampton Tips for Friday, December 01

Our form expert provides Rockhampton tips for today’s horse racing at Rockhampton Racecourse and gives his best bets.

BEST BET 🏆

Race 2:  No.1  TRICKY BEANS  ($2.50 with Neds)

Local galloper TRICKY BEANS has been a model of consistency of late and third-up today looks the one to beat in this contest. Last start, the Spill The Beans gelding was second-up when he gave them a galloping lesson by leading all the way in Open company over the mile at Mackay. He returns to race on home soil today and drops sharply in grade which the handicapper noticed, giving him 62.5kgs for this assignment. Ryan Wiggins returns for the ride today and he boasts three wins and two minor money finishes from his five previous rides on the gelding. He draws the outside gate here but shouldn’t have any trouble crossing to lead in this small field. He is already a winner when third-up and boasts four wins from his past six starts. He can certainly give this a shake today.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 7:  No.3  BLUE KENTUCKY MOON  ($6 with Ladbrokes)

The Graeme Green-trained BLUE KENTUCKY MOON is unbeaten in two starts this preparation and looks a serious player in this contest. Last start, the No Nay Never gelding made it back-to-back wins and did it in style when he clobbered an Open company field, here over the 1100m sprint. Warwick Satherley has his third ride on the six-year-old that day and has a 100% strike rate with the gelding. He clashes with the very smart Chinny Boom here but she is out-of-sorts a little of late and first-up, just might need the run today. Already a two-time winner when third-up, Graeme Green’s galloper will have fitness and an unbeaten record (at the track and distance) to rest upon and should take beating here.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 4:  No.5  DEVIL KICK  ($7.60 with BoomBet)

The locally-trained DEVIL KICK is second-up today and looks much better placed over this trip. Last start, the Scissor Kick mare was fresh off an 18-week spell when she ran home strongly to grab third prize in a BM70 over 1200m at Mackay. She steps up to the 1400m today where she is already a two-time winner at the track and distance. Jason Taylor is the new pilot and has a little work to do from gate seven where the four-year-old maps to settle near mid-field with cover. She is a Callaghan Park track specialist and fitter for one run back, should give us a good sight at good odds as well.
