BEST BET 🏆

Race 7 No. 1 KAYSERI – ($9)

Last start track and distance winner KAYSERI lines up in a similar race while faring better from the draw. He was away a little slowly last time before trucking Alice Lindsay into the race. The pair never got in with Kayseri travelling deep without cover in what could have been a forgive run. Kayseri was in no mood to apologise however, instead hitting the front inside the furlong. He continued to pull away from the others from up the middle of the track to leave no excuses for the rest. Does rise slightly in weight, though Jade Doyle should gain a nice run for Kayseri to be in the finish again.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 8 No. 11 JACK’S A CRACKER – ($8.50)

Teagan Voorham landed as a good winner on track and distance specialist JACK’S A CRACKER. We were on that day as Teagan gave him a nice run in the race to score in the Apprentice’s Challenge. Ryan Hurdle has guided many winners for the Grant Young stable and takes the ride on Sunday. He would know the Jack’s A Cracker well, having won and placed on him previously. Young took Jack’s A Cracker to a midweek at Morphettville since that win, and he was also well-beaten at Murray Bridge with his latest effort. Strathalbyn is very much a horses for courses track and this field looks very similar to the one Jack’s A Cracker accounted for recently.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 6 No. 16 SAND CAT – ($13)

South Australian racing stalwart SAND CAT has been racing consistently well of late and is getting closer to the winner’s stall. Dom Tourneur gave the mare a nice run behind the speed over this track and trip two starts ago. Sand Cat couldn’t quite pick up Possum Born and Betta Eddie who were one-two in the run to dead heat the race. Trainer Emma Hubbard sent Sand Cat out over the further 1350 metre distance in the start following for the first time in her career. She did a good job under Teagan Voorham to run the trip out to finish close-up to the winner Kayseri. Back to the 1200 metres on her home deck suits far better and she’s drawn perfectly for Nichola Yuen in the Apprentice’s Challenge.
