BEST BET 🏆

Race 8:  No.3  SABALENKA  ($2.10 with bet365)

The Robert Heathcote-trained SABALENKA is in great touch this time in boasting four podium finishes from her five starts this preparation and looks set for another win today. Last start, the Swiss Ace mare didn’t have much luck in running when taking on a stronger field, here in a BM62 Hcp. Despite the trouble she found, the mare still ran on well to finish fifth (of 13) over the 1200m trip. She ran her last 600m, 1.6 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up. Down a little grade today, she is ideally drawn in gate two and maps to settle in the first half-dozen. James Orman returns for the ride where he already boasts a win and two runner-up finishes from his three previous rides. The scene looks set for a big effort here.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 6:  No.6  MY SHAMANA  ($5.50 with bet365)

Eagle Farm galloper MY SHAMANA sees the Corbould Park track for the first time today and second-up here looks one of the main chances. Last start, the Choisir mare was fresh off a lengthy six-month break when she finished third in a BM58 Hcp over 1400m at Gatton. Shen ran out her last 600m, 3.9 lengths quicker than benchmark, second-best here behind Kirro (who is yet to finish top-three in five starts over this trip). The mare also posted the fastest final 800m, 600m and 400m sectionals for the race. The four-year-old steps up to the mile today and fitter for that first-up run, she looks a real chance here.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 5:  No.6  SHINSHINTO  ($17 with Ladbrokes)

The David Murphy-trained SHINSHINTO is a 15-start regular here and three runs back, looks set for back-to-back victories today. Last start, the Golden Archer gelding made it look easy when taking out a BM62 Hcp over 1100m at the Gold Coast. Carrying 59.5kgs, she eventually took up the front running and from there, dictated terms and went on to win by a length on the line. Up in grade today, she drops back a little in distance and carries 2kgs less than last start. Corey Bayliss sticks with her after already steering her to five of her six career wins. She maps to settle up near the speed again and could very easily give this contest a real fright at big odds today.
