He has found the line strongly at both Flemington runs this prep, and was only a length off VERRY ELLEEGANT in the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes two starts back. He didn’t handle the tight confines of Caulfield last start and looks a Flemington specialist. The last three winners of the Cup have all been 4yos and carried 53kgs or less. WARNING ticks all the boxes and has drawn well in barrier 8 and is bred to stay all day. He is the best roughie in the race.

THE RAIDER – 21. TIGER MOTH @ $8

TIGER MOTH is the most interesting runner in the race. Master trainer Aidan O’Brien continues to search for his maiden Melbourne Cup win and has been getting closer every year. The beautifully bred TIGER MOTH was placed in the Irish Derby and followed that up with an easy Group 3 win as a short priced favourite. He has carried big weights at home and looks thrown in with 52.5kgs, with multiple Cup winning jockey Kerrin McEvoy to ride. Two of the last three Cup winners have been Northern Hemisphere 3yos on Australia debut. If the race is run at a genuine tempo, he will be hard to hold out.
