1. DANE RIPPER (1997)

Dane Ripper was a top mare from the Bart Cummings camp that is best remembered for her win in the 1997 Cox Plate (2040m), when she scooted up the inside as a $41 shot with Damien Oliver on board. While she was overshadowed by the likes of Saintly and Might And Power, who won the Cox Plate in the years either side of her, she was a serious racehorse that had earlier picked up the Tattersall’sTiara and the Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) in 1997. The daughter of Danehill would retire in 1998 and finished her career with four Group 1 wins.

2. MISS POTENTIAL (2004)

Miss Potential was a solid horse in New Zealand early in her career, taking to the Group 1 Mudgway Stakes (1340m) in 2003 before heading to Australia in 2004 and finishing close up in a number of key races including the Doncaster Mile (1600m) when 5th behind Private Steer. She broke through for success in this race and returned in the spring to hold out Alinghi at Flemington in the Empire Rose Stakes (1600m)

3. BONANOVA (1999 & 2000)

Bonanova was a two time winner of the Tatts Tiara, achieving the feat in 1999 and 2000. A winner in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria, the quality mare raced consistently against the best and returned late in 1999 to claim the Tristarc Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield and the Cantala Mile (1600m) at Flemington ahead of Umrum before closing out her career with another win in this race in 2000.

4. YOSEI (2011)

Another three-time Group 1 winner, Yosei burst onto the scene as a two-year-old, taking out the Inglis’ Sires at Randwick before returning at three to win the Thousand Guineas (1600m) for the fillies at Caulfield. In 2011, she capped off a fine season with victory in this race ahead of Beaded.

5. SRIKANDI (2015)

Srikandi was an early success story for Ciaron Maher, helping to establish that trainer and loved racing in Queensland. She worked through the grades in 2014 before running 3rd in the Stradbroke Handicap (1400m). Returning from a long break, the daughter of Dubawi went a couple of spots better when winning the Stradbroke ahead of Boban before proving to be too good against her own sex when the Tattersall’s Tiara it was held at the Gold Coast in 2015.
