Race 4 - WESTRAL MS PACE (2536m) - 5:13pm AEDT
Suggested Bet Type (Win) with Neds – Odds correct at time of writing
A big class drop for LORD ROSCO and he has blinding gate speed when they decide to use it. The six-year-old gelding ran fourth in the Group 2 Bunbury Cup (2569m) and sixth in the Group 3 Narrogin Cup (2662m). He is a winner of four races from eight starts over the distance and if he can cross them at the start, he will be extremely hard to beat. Mr Kiwi and Joe With The Flow are the other gate speed horses that could trouble Lord Rosco early; if one of them holds up then Has No Fear, Our Rhythm N Blues and J B Mauney will be dangerous.
Race 9 - MONDO DORO SMALLGOODS MS PACE (2536m) - 8:08pm AEDT
Suggested Bet Type (Win) with Sportsbet – Odds correct at time of writing
The last is a small field of six runners and you can make a case for most of them. THOMSON BAY continues to impress with seven victories from 13 career starts. He was fourth in the Group 3 The Clarke (2130m) last start and wasn’t suited to racing in the breeze which makes the effort really good. Prior to that, he was sixth in FFA company. His win over Rakasinc three starts back suggests he will run a big race tonight; if he leads he instantly becomes the horse to beat, otherwise a soft run should see him running home strongly.
Race 6 - EASTER CUP SS PACE (2902m) - 6:23pm AEDT
Suggested Bet Type (Each-Way) with TAB – Odds correct at time of writing
The Group 2 Easter Cup is a standing start event held over 2902m. The Bond duo of Glenledi Chief and Lawrence are the horses to beat but neither appeals at the current odds. Group 3 Northam Cup (2560m) winner Babyface Adda also has excellent prospects as does MISTA SHARK who will be driven by Gary Hall Jnr. A winner of 15 from 35, Mista Shark has had issues and has raced sparingly over the past couple of years. He was an excellent winner two starts back and despite struggling in the Narrogin Cup, he looks better suited here with a stand record of 15 starts for seven wins.
