Race 1 - CHOICES FLOORING MS PACE (2536m) – 8:22pm AEDT
The opening race on the card sees Zazu looking to lead from barrier three with Machnificent and Doc Holliday looking to race on the speed. MACHNIFICENT ($2.20 with Sportsbet) is a talented three-year-old colt who has won eight races from 29 starts. Most of his racing has been against strong company and he will relish racing against older horses in the next season or two. Machnificent won three races in a row prior to a last start fourth where he ran a good race from the breeze position. If he can land 1 out 1 back behind Doc Holliday, then he should be hard to hold out in the latter stages.
Race 3 - DIRECT TRADES SUPPLY MS PACE (2130m) – 9:22pm AEDT
An interesting race with 11-year-old gelding Another Vinnie resuming for the first time since 2019. ROCKABALL ($3.20 with Sportsbet) was a surprise winner two starts ago at $101 when capturing the Group 3 The Warwick Final (2130m). He then finished seventh last start behind Alta Engen and Jumpingjackmac in the Group 3 The Kersley (2130m). He had a wide barrier draw in that race and now looks much better drawn in barrier four. This is also a drop in class for the six-year-old gelding. I am not sure where he maps but he should be running home strongly in this company and is one of the class horses of the race.
Race 5 - ALLWOOD STUD MOUNT EDEN SPRINT MS PACE (SKY1) (1730m) – 10:27pm AEDT
PERFECT MAJOR ($2.60 with Unibet) will try his best to hold out Vampiro at the start and whichever horse holds the lead should prove hard to beat. Chris Lewis will be aware that he needs to hold the speedy Vampiro after the horse was crossed three starts ago but still managed to win in brilliant style. The pair won’t want to go too hard early though because Hurricane Harley can make them pay if they run a fast first quarter or half. Perfect Major has won two of his past three starts and looks hardest to beat from the inside barrier.
