Lindsay Harper will be hoping a drop in class can help BETTORSTARTDREAMING ($2.10 Unibet) return to the winner’s circle. His last victory was a massive 12.2m margin when Kyle Harper drove the gelding back in October. Bettorstartdreaming has been ticking along fairly recently and this looks a more suitable assignment. Whether he is able to get the lead from Joe With The Flow or has to sit parked remains to be seen, but Harper should make his presence felt in this company.

ALTA INTRIGUE ($2.30 Neds) has been racing well in FFA grade and drops back in class as he looks to record his seventh win at Gloucester Park. His past two have been 5.8m and 4m defeats behind Wildwest which is excellent form for this race. Alta Intrigue has barrier six which could be a little tricky, but his class could shine through here as he tries to break through for a much-deserved win. Maddison Brown picks up the drive for Gary Hall Snr and should have Alta Intrigue on the speed in running, which should make him hard to beat.

Mares Classic (2536m) winner SAVVY BROMAC ($1.90 TAB) looks extremely hard to beat in the Group 3 feature. She will lead from barrier two and showed her talent when doing just that two starts ago when she won the Group 1 Mares Classic over Born To Boogie and Balcatherine. This is an easier race than the Mares Classic and Group 2 City of Perth Cup (2130m) which saw Balcatherine lead all the way. Savvy Bromac was out the back in that run and had no chance of getting into the race. With a barrier reversal over Balcatherine, I expect Savvy Bromac to salute with Emily Suvaljko in the cart for trainer Nathan Turvey.

Tonight’s FFA looks very interesting, and the barrier draw has made it a terrific contest with Perfect Major trying to hold up from the inside draw. Wildwest and/or Hampton Banner are likely to have a look early and any early speed battle will benefit MINSTREL ($4 Sportsbet). Ryan Warwick will drive the four-year-old gelding Minstrel who has been racing exceptionally well this season with seven wins and four minor placings from 13 starts. Minstrel worked hard outside Wildwest last start to finish third in 1:52.8. He is versatile and will have plenty of options from barrier 10, which gives him strong claims in the race.
