Inter Dominion Finals Tips – pacing and trotting finals previewed
Race 6 – HR FISKEN & SONS 2019 IDOM TROTTING CHAMPS FINAL (2700m) – 6:19pm AEDT
Mark Purdon and Natalie Rasmussen train race favourite Winterfell who has come up with barrier two. Winning two of his three heats, Winterfell looks extremely hard to beat and the $1.75 quote reflects that.
The Phil Williamson-trained Majestic Man was third behind Winterfell over this distance in the final round of heats. Majestic Man sat parked and was beaten 4.6 lengths which was a good effort. He was victorious in the second round over 1700m when leading throughout in 1:55.6. Winterfell didn’t have much luck on that occasion when fourth.
Majestic Man has good gate speed and if he can take the lead early then driver Brad Williamson has options. Many will expect a hand up to Winterfell and then trying to run him down via the sprint lane.
Winterfell is my top pick but not much value at $1.75. Prefer to be on Majestic Man at $4.80 and he should go close to capturing the Inter Dominion.
Temporale, Marcoola, Habibi Inta and Tough Monarch all have each-way claims.
Race 8 – IRT 2019 IDOM PACING CHAMPS FINAL (2700m) – 7:35pm AEDT
Ultimate Sniper has been incredible for Mark Purdon and Natalie Rasmussen and it will be a massive shock if they don’t walk away with another Inter Dominion Final. Their team consists of Ultimate Sniper $1.40, Cruz Bromac $7.00, Thefixer $11, Chase Auckland $17 and Ashley Locaz $26.
The race is almost a one-act affair with Ultimate Sniper looking to make it a clean sweep of the series. Barrier five is a great draw and it almost looks certain he will find the lead at some stage over the 2700m – expect multiple hand ups during the race with the All Stars determining what happens.
Ultimate Sniper deserves the win and it is very hard to tip against him. The $1.40 doesn’t appeal but it is close to his right price. He looks a $1.20-$1.50 shot and I am happy to let him go around.
Cruz Bromac has massive place claims and I will go that way. $1.85 is enough to get involved because he has been the second-best horse in the series and deserves to fill the minors. He is good enough to win but I think he is more likely to run second or third behind Ultimate Sniper.
