Coolangatta draws 13 at MM 2YO Classic barrier draw

The barrier draw for Saturday’s $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1200m) has made things a bit tougher for short-priced favourite Coolangatta after the filly drew gate 13.
Trained by Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, the daughter of Written Tycoon debuted with a runaway victory over Drisana in the Group 3 Gimcrack Stakes (1000m) at Randwick.
Following a two-month break, she tightened her grip on the 2YO Classic with a dominant 2.25-length victory over Thelwell in the BJ McLachlan Stakes (1200m) at Doomben.
The Peter and Paul Snowden-prepared Russian Conquest is the only other runner under double figures ($7), and she jumps from gate 4 with jockey Kerrin McEvoy taking the ride.
Having also debuted with a victory, the daughter of Russian Revolution made easy work of an 1100m assignment at Randwick as she scored by more than three lengths over Snitcat who was beaten six lengths on debut by Coolangatta.
While Russian Conquest spearheads the Snowden attack, the stable is also represented by Miss Hellfire ($12) and Revolutionary Miss ($61) who have drawn gates 11 and 8 respectively.
Barrier 2 has been the most successful barrier (5 wins) in the 2YO feature, and in 2022, the Gary Portelli-trained Snitcat has drawn the coveted gate.
