Day 1 The Championships – Fields out
The fields for all 10 races on Day 1 of The Championships have landed.
Tuesday’s barrier draws saw the fields for the four Group 1 races released – Doncaster Mile, Australian Derby, TJ Smith Stakes and Sires Produce.
The bumper program will kick off with the Group 3 Kindergarten Stakes [1100m] at 12.10pm with the final event, the Group 3 PJ Bell Stakes [1200m], to be run at 5.50pm.
The Kindergarten Stakes has been the launching pad of several successful careers in recent years including Newmarket Handicap winner Bivouac, who took out the two-year-old feature in 2019.
Sydney’s premier trainer Chris Waller took out last year’s Carbine Club Stakes [1600m] with Kiku, who lines up in this year’s Doncaster Mile with Waller saddling up Straight Arron and Field Legend in this year’s edition of the Carbine Club.
Brothers James and Edward Cummings have won the past two Adrian Knox Stakes with Colette and Duais respectively. This year James has Honeycreeper and Mamounia lining up while Ed will rely solely on I’m Divine.
