STAR PERFORMER – KNIGHTS ORDER

His overall wining time was almost 8 lengths faster than the average Sydney Cup time [conditions taken into account].

He’s done it all from the front running the first 2600m 9.7 lengths faster than Sydney Cup average and produced a 3200m rating that would see him run in the top five in most Melbourne Cups. This was the race of the day and the winner was ultra-impressive.

HIDDEN GEM – IN THE CONGO

His weapon is being able to set a rolling tempo and he didn’t get to use it here. He set a ‘Very Slow’ pace where he ran almost 15 lengths slower than average through the first half of the race.

He’s run the second fastest last 200m of the day. This isn’t the right race shape for In The Congo but it’s the perfect race to back up out of and he will take a stack of beating in the All Aged Stakes this weekend if they go that way.

SPECIAL MENTION – EL PATRONESS/ATC OAKS

The ATC Oaks has produced some stars over the past decade with the likes of Rising Romance, Verry Elleegant, Streama, Colette and most of all, Winx. Its been the best producer of stars of all the three-year-old classic races and this year might be follow.

El Patroness has run an overall time that 5.6lens faster than average for the Oaks and when you consider who has set those averages, it might be worth following some of these fillies into the spring.

More immediately, the Queensland Oaks and a horse like Biscayne Bay, who was only second-up might be a filly that can go north with relatively fresh legs.
