Tommy Berry’s Best Ride at Randwick This Saturday

Star jockey Tommy Berry has signaled there’s one horse punters can follow at Randwick on Saturday.

Berry has eight rides at headquarters and concedes he might have his work cut out early in the card.

“Some of my earlier rides are taking on good quality horses,” Berry said.

“They can win but are likely to need a few things go their way to beat some of the classier types.”

However, the likeable hoop says there is one horse he rides who thinks “is clearly the one they have to beat”.

“Ciaron Maher said to me Nikau Spur is on of the best wet trackers he’s trained so I buoyed by those comments given what’s been happening in Sydney pretty much the whole carnival.

“She was scratched the other day and was beaten by bias before that so providing the track is playing fair then she is clearly my best ride and I expect her to be thundering down the centre of the track in the last.”
