Here’s three horses to back in futures markets after connections disclosed their respective late autumn/winter targets.

Tuesday’s trials saw the talented Rothfire scorch the turf with trainer Rob Heathcote signalling his sprinter will resume in the Victory Stakes on May 1.

That would mean Rothfire will go into the Doomben 10000 second-up. He’s yet to be beaten in seven races or trials at Doomben and is three from five second-up.

Rothfire is currently paying as much as $12 for the Doomben 10000.

His stablemate Startantes hasn’t raced since finishing second to Hinged in the Group 1 Surround stakes for the fillies.

She oozes class and looked superb finishing third in her heat on Tuesday. Heathcote has his sights firmly on the Stradbroke Handicap for Startantes and her current quote of $17 will tighten up significantly if she performs as expected early in her campaign.

Switching down to Adelaide and Bella Nipotina ran good time at Randwick on Saturday and Ciaron Maher says she’ll head towards the Group 1 Robert Sangster (1200m) at Morphetville on May 7.

Bella Nipotina has already proven herself at G1 WFA level with her Manikato Stakes second and she looks even better suited against her own sex.

The daughter of Pride Of Dubai is $10 to win the Robert Sangster and off the ratings she’s produced she should be closer to half that.
