BEST BET 🏆

Race 2 No. 5 CLOUDY MISS ($3.80)

Jackson Murphy joins CLOUDY MISS in the saddle for trainer Jason Edwards at Dalby Racecourse on Monday. The mare comes off a gutsy placing after she lobbed in front over 2000 metres at Gatton last start. She ended up being taken on and surpassed by a determined No More Red prior at the 1400m mark. Cloudy Miss continued in the box-seat as Harbelle swept up to tackle No More Red by the 600m. Corey Bayliss then angled Cloudy Miss off the fence to join in three wide on straightening where she appeared to head Harbelle into the straight. That inside horse kicked back strongly to come away again and win by nearly a length the Cloudy Miss. There was a similar margin back to No More Red with Harbelle and No More Red proving the form by fighting out the quinella at Ipswich recently.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 3 No. 9 LOOK AT ROSA ($4.45)

Tom Dougall brings LOOK AT ROSA back to Dalby Racecourse where she ran second in a close go two starts back. Karl Zechner had settled the mare back and wide over 1100m second-up. They towed the race favourite and eventual winner Star Of Couteau into the race. That horse had peeled off her back on straightening with Look At Rosa and Star Of Couteau coming away to fight it out. In the end Look At Rosa had to settle for second placing with the judge finding a margin in the photo. She stepped up to 1350m at Warwick where Look At Rosa raced fiercely under Nozi Tomizawa with the lack of tempo in the race. She wasn’t beaten far in a stronger race and has had the benefit of another trial since.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 8 No. 1 RANGI TOA ($6.10)

The drop in class back to Dalby can help RANGI TOA find that winning form again. He is slowly working his way back down the benchmarks to find his right level and the claim for Sarah Robbins keeps him well under notice. Finished amongst the placings while lumping weight under Josh Adams and racing on the speed in CL3 races at Beaudesert and Gatton. Would argue that those two races were stronger than this and Rangi Toa probably doesn’t quite run a genuine mile. Trainer Maleah Hill still did try him out over 2110m at Lismore before again coming back to a BM70 over 1650m at Beaudesert. Robbins can be positive from the barrier with her claim and Rangi Toa may prove hard to run down as he gets back to the seven furlongs.
