BEST BET 🏆

Race 4:  No.2  POINT OUT

Conditions look ideal today for the Warwick Farm galloper, POINT OUT who is five starts into his career and should be at his peak for this assignment. Last start, the Bull Point gelding came off his maiden win at Kembla Grange (on a Heavy 10) when he finished mid-field (on a Good 4) at the same track in a Class 1 over 1300m. Back on the wet surface today, Louise Day is legged aboard for the first time as the three-year-old draws well in gate three where he maps to be parked just behind the speed. A trouble-free run should see him hard to hold out today.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 1:  No.4  MOUNTAIN CHATTER

The John Nisbet-trained MOUNTAIN CHATTER made a good impression on debut and looks set here for back-to-back victories today. The Kermadec gelding stepped out for the first time on his home track at Canberra and with Nisbet’s daughter (Kayla) on board, came from behind to beat home the Maiden field by a length on the line. The 1000m contest was run on a Soft 6 that day. The three-year-old gets the gun-run here and has Jack Martin as the new pilot for this assignment. He looks perfectly placed here and it will all come down to how he handles the heavy going today. If he copes with it, he looks the one to beat.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 5:  No.10  DOWNTOWN’S ABBEY

Locally-trained by Danielle Seib, DOWNTOWN’S ABBEY has made a solid start to her racing career and looks well placed at the weights here to continue with the good work today. Last start, the Pariah filly made it third-time-lucky when she broke through for her maiden win over 1200m at Canberra. Hannah Williams had her settled outside the leader that day and on straightening, took control and held the challengers all at bay as she crossed the line half a length in front them. Fourth-up today, she will strip super fit here and has Jean Van Overmeire aboard to steer the ship. A dual-acceptor for this meeting, Seib has scratched her from race four, avoiding the longer trip (1500m) and the extra weight. She has plenty of early toe which sees her settling on the speed. Start number four today can see her figure here at odds.
