BEST BET 🏆

Race 2:  No.6  FEIMAZUO

Second-up today, the Alison Smith-trained FEIMAZUO has found the podium in all three starts to date and is well placed here to keep the run going in this contest. Last start, the Press Statement filly came off a six-month absence and did well to beat all but one home in a set weights Maiden, here over the 1000m sprint. In a strung-out field (complete with a tearaway leader), she took the turn eight lengths off the pace-setter, and after being hampered (tightened for room) at a crucial stage, she finished hard to grab the runner-up cheque, beaten less than a length on the line. Ideally drawn in gate three today, William Stanley sticks with her and all things going well, she can break through today.

Race 6:  No.4  BRIEF STATEMENT

Another from the Alison Smith stable is BRIEF STATEMENT who has conditions to suit today and looks well placed to bounce back to the winner’s circle in this contest. Last start, the Press Statement mare came from last to grab third prize in Open company over 1010m at Orange. Dropping sharply in grade today, William Stanley returns to steer the ship having already partnered the mare to six podium finishes from ten previous rides (including two wins) and is ideally drawn in gate three for this assignment. Three of her four career wins have come on wet tracks and with a trouble-free run here, she can add another feather to her cap today.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 7:  No.11  MRS BULL

The Dubbo-based MRS BULL makes her Wellington debut today and with several important scratchings here, now looks right in the mix to score her second-ever victory. Last start, the Shooting To Win mare racked-up her 15th minor placing when she took home third prize in a BM50 over 1300m at Narromine. From gate 10 (of 12), she raced three-wide without cover to the turn where she was carted even deeper, but still finished strongly enough to grab the podium spot on the line. Mikayla Weir has been aboard for the mare’s past four starts and steers the ship again today. Ideally drawn here in gate three, she gets her chance to salute in this contest.
