BEST BET 🏆
Race 3: No.3 BEAUTY ETERNAL ($1.55 with bet365)
The John Size-trained BEAUTY ETERNAL taken out five of his eight career starts to date and yet to miss a top-three finish, looks the testing material here. Last start, the well-bred Starspangledbanner gelding was a little disappointing when finishing second behind Red Lion in the Class 1 Hong Kong Macau Trophy, here over 1400m. He still ran his last 600m, 7 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best last-start effort in this field. He also posted the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race, despite being beaten nearly two lengths on the line. Drawn well today in gate three, he should settle just behind the pace and with Zac Purton sticking with him, he looks all set to bounce back here.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 7: No.1 LUCKY SWEYNESSE ($1.45 with Bet Right)
Manfred Man saddles-up his champion galloper LUCKY SWEYNESSE here who has an impressive picket fence next to his name and looks set to add another picket to it today. Last start, the Sweynesse gelding brought up his fifth-straight victory when he clobbered them in the Group 1 Chairman’s Sprint Prize, here over 1200m. Running an impressive time of 1:08.3 for the 1200m, he covered the trip, 12.5 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up by 3 lengths. He has been allocated more weight today after he put more than three lengths on them that day and with Zac Purton in the saddle, he will carry 61kgs for this contest. His resume shows six wins from eight starts at the track and distance here which suggests the extra weight may not be an issue. Boasting track specialist status ( 9 wins from 11 starts here), he will take serious beating today.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 9: No.3 CHARITY GRACE ($31 with Ladbrokes)
Second-up today, the Danny Shum-trained CHARITY GRACE hasn’t won a race in over a year but just might surprise a few here and is well worth an each-way ticket today. Last start, the Per Incanto gelding resumed from a lengthy 20-week break when clearly in need of the run, he finished unplaced in a Class 3 Hcp, here over 1400m. He finished well enough to run out the final 600m, 8 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best here. Matthew Poon has ridden him to two of his four career wins and sticks with him today. Already a second-up winner, he does no early work from gate from gate four and maps to settle better than mid-field. With a trouble-free run today, he could easily give this a real shake and turn a few heads in the process.
