Race 4:  No.5  WE ARE HERO  ($1.85 with bet365)

The Manfred Man-trained WE ARE HERO is shooting for four-straight today and while skinny with the bagmen here, he still looks the best of the day. Last start, the Headwater gelding came off a nine-week break where he just picked up where he left off, proving too strong for them in the Class 3, Hong Kong Lions Cup, here over 1000m. Down the straight track, the gap came for him at the right time and he took full advantage of it, spearing through to cross the line in another post code from his 12 rivals that day. He ran the fastest final 800m and 600m sectionals that day as he was eased inside the last 100m, (having the race already wrapped up). He has his first crack at Class 2 company today but in the mood he is in at the moment, he still looks the best of the day.

Race 2:  No.2  PACKING HURRICANE  ($2.50 with Bet Right)

The Caspar Fownes-trained PACKING HURRICANE is in the zone of late and looks a real chance of bringing up the hat-trick today. Last start, the Irish-sired gelding made it two-from-two at the track and trip when he arrived in the nick of time to score an impressive win in a Class 3 Hcp, here over the 2000m trip. He ran it out, 4.5 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best last-start effort here. He also posted the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race as he did his best work in the final 200m. Harry Bentley rode him a treat that day and sticks with him for this assignment. He gets the gun run from gate one today and unbeaten in two starts at the track and distance, he looks the one to beat again.

Race 9:  No.1  RED LION  ($3.20 with Ladbrokes)

The lethal combination of John Size and Zac Purton line-up here again, this time with RED LION who has won three of his past four starts and looks poised to make it happen again today. Last start, the Irish-bred galloper came off a rare unplaced finish when he turned it around by claiming victory in the Class 1 Hong Kong Macau Trophy, here over 1400m. Enjoying the run of the race (in the one,one), he trailed the first two until straightening when the leader skipped away, and despite spotting him four lengths at the 300m, he soon ran him down and ‘roared’ past him to score by a convincing two lengths in the end. He covered that trip, 6.5 lengths quicker than benchmark, second only to Erimo here but drops in grade today and has Purton returning for this assignment. With a trouble-free run today, he can make it back-to-back wins here.
