BEST BET 🏆

Race 6:  No.4  BRENTWOOD  ($3 with bet365)

The Tony Gollan-trained BRENTWOOD has found his mojo at his past couple and looks set in this to keep the trend going today. Last start, the I Am Invincible gelding came off a win on this track when he left his run too late and had to settle for the silver medal in a BM65 Hcp over 1400m at Gatton. He ran his last 600m, 4.5 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up. He also posted the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for that race. James Orman returns for the ride (after steering him to that victory two starts back) and ideally drawn in gate four here, he really looks the best of the day.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 3:  No.5  THE KHAN  ($2.95 with BoomBet)

Gold Coast galloper THE KHAN has been ever-consistent this time in without winning but gets his chance here to turn things around today. Last start, the Mongolian Khan gelding found the podium for the seventh time in his 16-start career when he beat all but one home in a Toowoomba Maiden over 2150m. Trying to lead all the way (again), he looked set for his first win, only to grabbed on the line by a swooper. He ran that trip out, 7.5 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best last-start effort here by 3 lengths. Boris Thornton finished third on the five-year-old two starts back in an Eagle Farm Maiden and returns here for a second crack at steering him home. Rock-hard fit after five runs back, he looks well placed in this company and maybe today can be his day.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 5:  No.11  ALAMIRA  ($4.20 with Ladbrokes)

The Annabel Neasham-trained ALAMIRA is in great touch after three runs this preparation and with Ryan Maloney on board today, looks s serious player in this line-up. Last start, the Pride Of Dubai filly made it six top-three finishes (from just nine starts) when she took home third prize in a Class 3 Plate over 1200m at Ipswich. She drew wide and was trapped three-wide (without cover) but still finished strongly to get up in time for that final podium spot. She ran the trip out, 1.5 lengths slower than benchmark, second-best here behind the topweight (Menazzi) who is first-up off a six-month absence and spots Alamira 5.5kgs as well. Scratched from race six to run in this event, the filly can find the line again and record her third career victory today.
