Mount Gambier Tips 21/01/2024

BEST BET 🏆

Race 1 No. 3 CHILL WITH TEEJAY – ($3.20)

Murray Bridge horseman Peter Hardacre accepts a three kilo claim for apprentice Caitlin Tootell aboard his track specialist CHILL WITH TEEJAY. The stable has been on fire of late and their horses often perform well when coming back to Hardacre’s former home track. Maggie Collett swooped from the back when Chill With Teejay won here three runs ago. The pace had been good and Chill With Teejay had no problems getting to them out in the middle part of the track. The mare has three from five starts over this track and trip and should be well favoured to add to that record on Sunday.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 4 No. 4 MADDISON MISS – ($3.70)

Big rise in class for last start track and distance winner MADDISON MISS. The market came for Maddison Miss as Caitlin Tootell sent the speedster to race forward on the speed. Tootell managed to sneak her mount back to the inside of Carry On Camping in what would prove to be the winning move. Those two horses moved clear of the others as they straightened by the dog leg with Maddison Miss holding a margin on the line. Both horses are a long way up in class at Mount Gambier Racecourse on Sunday. The pair did run sharp time which should see them in the finish again with Maddison Miss faring best from the barrier draw.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 3 No. 13 MANHATTAN LANE ($6.60)

Terang trainer Malcolm Sharpe found a much improved performance from his mare MANHATTAN LANE over this track and distance last start. Harry Grace had the maiden galloper out and chasing after the leader Dale’s Rocket who ran them along in fast time through the early part. Dale’s Rocket was heavily supported in the market and unsurprisingly packed far too much in the run home. Some concerns for the last 600m time, however they did go hard up front with Manhattan Lane in the firing line for much of the race. Sharpe gets Manhattan Lane back to maiden grade on Sunday with a three-kilo claim for apprentice Jordyn Weatherley.
