Naracoorte Tips 03/03/2024
BEST BET 🏆
Race 2 No. 3 ROHLON DRUNK (5.50)
Senior rider Jacob Opperman gets back aboard stable horse ROHLON DRUNK in a race where should find himself outside the leader. The track specialist settled behind the speed before coming away for a comfortable victory in a weaker race over 1200m here late last year. Has been around the mark including a recent placing during the last Naracoorte meeting in a good race behind Cranc. Didn’t find a whole lot of room at Bordertown last time and should find some more space on Sunday. Small field suits Rohlon Drunk racing who meets a lot of these at a good time.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 1 No. 6 DON’T MATTA ME ($6)
Millicent trainer Krystal Trembath sent DON’T MATTA ME to the trials at Naracoorte Racecourse prior to resuming. He settled around midfield in a trial field which looked to have a bit of pace on paper. Moved into it early under Justin potter before losing his compass when running out on the turn. Don’t Matta Me finished off under riding to turn in an okay trial. Don’t Matta Me resented being heavily restrained while fresh and over raced badly by the tail at Hamilton first-up. They ran time all day with this race being no different. Don’t Matter Me finished off between horses despite racing keenly throughout. There’s not a lot of depth to this maiden on Sunday, and forward showing wouldn’t surprise.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 5 No. 6 MISS VIGNETTE ($8.50)
Bordertown trainers James & Lisa Dodgson sent their recent stable acquisition MISS VIGNETTE to Bordertown Racecourse last start. Dylan Caboche gave the mare a nice run behind the speed early from an inside gate. He switched Miss Vignette off the leader’s heels into the straight to look a winning chance inside the furlong. Grandellie had been racing well leading into that race and took the bull by the horns to take the gap back to the inside of Miss Vignette. That horse came away to score while Miss Vignette comfortably held the rest at bay for second.
