TE RAPA
BEST BET 🏆
Race 1: No.7 TOMODACHI
The O’Sullivan & Scott Team saddle-up TOMODACHI here who has exploded out of the gates and having her fourth race-start today is in search of a hat-trick here. Last start, the Tarzino filly came off a big Maiden win at Taupo when she franked that effort and went back-to-back, taking out a BM65 over 1400m at Matamata. On a Heavy 9 that day, Warren Kennedy was backing up from that maiden win and steered her home to win by 1.5 lengths on the line. Kennedy steers the ship again today and from gate two, the filly looks the testing material here.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 5: No.7 SINDEE
The Allan Sharrock-trained SINDEE has made a big impression after four race starts and looks well paced here to go on with it today. Last start, the Ardrossan filly made it win number three when she cleaned them up in a Three-Year-Old set weights event, here over 1200m. She drew the carpark in gate 14 and travelled four-deep to the turn. Fanning even wider, she covered more ground that Bourke & Wills and still finished over the top of them to win by 1.5 lengths, eased over the line. Sam Weatherley has the reins today and going off that last start effort, she looks well and truly in the mix here.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 8: No.6 CHATTAHOOCHEE
Debbie Sweeney has CHATTAHOOCHEE engaged here who has won six of his 12 starts to date and is looking at a hat-trick today. Last start, the Reliable Man gelding came off a BM75 win at Tauranga when he met similar company at Pukekohe, beating them home as well over the 1500m trip. This is his hardest test to date as he tackles his first black-type event where Matthew Cameron is legged aboard for his first ride on the five-year-old. He is ideally drawn in gate four today and maps to settle better than mid-field with cover. At his peak after four starts this preparation, he looks set to produce his best and looks a great value in this contest.
WANGANUI
BEST BET 🏆
Race 2: No.2 WEWILLROCK
The Hastings-based galloper, WEWILLROCK is third-up as he sees the Wanganui track for the first time and looks set to make an impact in this contest. Last start, the El Roca gelding was second-up off a lengthy 29-week break and showed a ton of improvement when he beat all but one home in the Listed Napier Sprint over 1200m at Otaki. On a Heavy 8 that day, he overraced most of the trip but still fought on gamely to collect the second prize. He is reunited with Johnathon Riddell here who has steered him to victory twice previously and today, gets the gun-run from gate one. Unbeaten in two previous third-up appearances, he should take beating in this event.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 5: No.7 TITLED
The Cambridge galloper, TITLED has strung together five-straight top-two finishes and down in class today looks set to keep the trend going in this contest. Last start, the well-bred Exceed And Excel gelding came off a good win here in a BM75 Hcp when he lined-up in the Listed Hawkes Bay Cup (2200m). Well ridden by Kelly Myers, he fought all the way and chased home the smart Testify Me (the eventual winner) and was gallant in defeat, beaten a length on the line, taking home second prize that day. Lisa Allpress is in the saddle today and boasts a near perfect record with him. From eight previous rides she has saluted twice and finished in the minor money on the six other occasions. Already a two-time winner on wet tracks, today’s conditions look ideal for him.
This looks a little easier and with a trouble-free run, he can get the job done here.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 6: No.10 TAVI ANN
The Allan Sharrock-trained TAVI ANN is in great touch after four starts this time in and at the weights today, looks a serious threat to this field. Last start, the Tavistock mare was at her peak when she clobbered her rivals in a BM65, here over the 1600m trip. Last out of the gates, she quickly improved to settle mid-field on the fence and as they drifted out on the turn, Triston Moodley took the inside passage left to her and steered the mare to an impressive victory, crossing the line more than a length ahead of the 11-strong field. Today, Kate Hercock returns for her third ride on the mare and although up in grade today, she strips even fitter with those four runs under her belt and now a track and distance winner, looks well placed for back-to-back wins today.
