BEST BET 🏆
Race 2: No.9 HILLCREST AVENUE ($4 with Ladbrokes)
Trained at the track by Stuart Kendrick, HILLCREST AVENUE is yet to miss a top-three finish in his six-start career and that doesn’t look like changing in this contest. Last start, the Australia gelding made his city debut and beat all but one to the line in a BM75 Hcp over 2200m at Doomben. Coming from near last (of 10), he missed by a mere neck from claiming first prize in what was a gallant effort. He ran a new personal best, covering the trip, 6.1 lengths quicker than benchmark and posted the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals as well. Back to Provincial class here, he remains unbeaten on his home track and will take beating here.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 7: No.9 JE SUIS BELLE ($2.05 with Neds)
The ever-consistent JE SUIS BELLE is second-up here and looks the testing material in this event. Last start, the Bel Esprit mare was fresh off a lengthy seven-month break when she came within a whisker of victory in an Open Class Hcp over 1000m at Eagle Farm. Storming home late, she beat all but one to the line, beaten a neck in the end. She ran the trip, 7 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up and posted the fastest final 600m, 400m and 200m sectionals for the race. The six-year-old has had 18 starts now for eight wins and no less than nine minor money finishes, missing a podium finish just once. Ryan Maloney has the reins for the first time here and from gate four she maps to settle in the first half-dozen and should prove very hard to hold out in the run home. Already a two-time winner when second-up, she holds plenty of trump cards for this contest.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 6: No.5 UCALLEDIT ($6 with Palmerbet)
The Kris Lees-trained UCALLEDIT has hit the ground running this preparation and looks well placed here for another top-shelf performance. Last start, the Zacinto gelding came off a first-up win at the Gold Coast when he took on a Class 6 contest and beat all but one home over 1350m at Doomben. He ran his last 600m, 7 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field. Andrew Mallyon is in the saddle for this assignment as the five-year-old comes back to Provincial class company and already a four-time winner over the 1400m, he will take beating for sure.
