BEST BET 🏆

Race 7:  No.8  CANNY HELL

The Kym Davison-trained CANNY HELL has mixed his form this time in but had three wins on the board and looks a solid chance of back-to-back wins today. Last start, the Hellbent gelding bounced back from consecutive unplaced runs when he showed plenty of fight to take out a BM74 contest over 1400m on his home track at Albury. With Simon Miller aboard, he drew wide that day and did it tough, sitting outside the leader without cover but still finished best to collect the winner’s cheque. He draws sweetly in gate three today and maps to be showing them the way on settling. Super fit after five starts back, he comes off a trial win at Albury last week and with Miller as the pilot again, he should prove hard to beat here.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 4:  No.5  OFFSPRING

The Keith Dryden-trained OFFSPRING is no stranger to Wagga and after three starts back this preparation, looks well placed here to figure in the finish today. Last start, the well-bred Zoustar mare came off a second-up win in BM82 company when she stepped-up to Open class competition and beat all but one home in the 1800m event. Both those efforts were run on this track. At her peak today, Jeff Penza returns for the ride after steering her to three of her five career wins to date. She has won on every surface so track conditions won’t play a part here. She maps to settle near mid-field from barrier eight and with a clear run to the line, the four-year-old should prove hard to hold out today.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 5:  No.6  HOWLING VICTORY

Nick Olive saddles-up HOWLING VICTORY here who is four starts into this campaign and on a six-day back-up, looks set to bring up her first win at the track today. Last start, the Winning Rupert mare was off her game at Albury when she came off consecutive runner-up finishes and missed out on the money in a BM58 over the mile with Billy Owen in the saddle. Applying the forgive & forget rule, she can bounce back here as Owen sticks with her for this assignment. From gate six, she maps to settle tucked behind the speed and if she is on her game today, she can give this a real shake.
