BEST BET 🏆

Race 6:  No. 4  PRINCE AKEEM  ($3.20  bet365)

Another big field faces the starter here with Newcastle galloper PRINCE AKEEM shaping-up as the best of the day. Last start, the Polarmore gelding came off a win, here in BM58 company when he stepped up sharply in grade and took on a Class 3 Hcp over 1450m at Muswellbrook. Far from disgraced, he did well to finish third in the event. He ran the trip out, 5.9 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best here by 3 lengths. He also posted the fastest final 600m and 200m sectionals for the race. This is a big drop in class today and he is reunited with Ash Morgan who has tasted victory with him previously. All three career wins have come on ‘soft’ tracks so conditions today (Soft 6) are ideal. Ideally drawn in gate three, he will take beating here.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 5:  No. 1  ASTROLITH  ($4.20  Palmerbet)

Bathurst galloper ASTROLITH carries tops weight today and sees the Warren track for the first time but still looks in the mix in this contest. Last start, the Stratum Star gelding came off a Class 1 victory at Bathurst when he took on a stronger challenge at the Hawkesbury track. After drawing the outside gate, he travelled five-wide to the turn and had nothing left to offer in the BM64 Hcp, finishing down the track that day. Dropping sharply in class here, Kody Nestor has the reins today and drawn better in the big field, maps to settle better than mid-field. Winning his first two starts this preparation, he looks poised to bounce back in this easier event and should be there when it counts.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 7:  No. 9  MOETTA  ($5  Palmerbet)

Dubbo galloper MOETTA ticks enough boxes to stake a claim for victory here today. Last start, the Uncle Mo mare found the podium for the second consecutive time when finished third in a BM58 Hcp over 1000m at Tamworth. She ran the trip, half a length quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up by 5 lengths. One previous start at the track saw her finish second with Clayton Gallagher on board who returns for the ride today. She is four starts into this preparation and should be at her peak for this assignment. Already a winner at the distance and two-time winner on wet tracks, she looks great value here.
