BEST BET 🏆

Race 5:  No.7  FLANK SPEED

The Toowoomba-based FLANK SPEED already boasts a strong record here and unbeaten in four starts on rain affected tracks, looks well placed here to score career-win number six today. Last start, the British-sired mare came off four-straight top-three finishes when she broke the chain by finishing mid-field in a BM70 over 1000m on her home track. She drew wide (9 of 10) that day and was never on the track, doing well to finish less than four lengths from the winner. A late riding change today sees Alishia Donald on board (replacing Olivia Webb) and back at Warwick today, we should see a different result from last start.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 3:  No.7  TOO MUCH MAKEUP

Local galloper, TOO MUCH MAKEUP is flying high of late with four-straight podium finishes and looks well placed here to bring up another one in this contest. Last start, the Supido mare finally shook off the maiden monkey when she broke through for her first win. She drew the outside gate (12) and led from barrier to box over the 1350m journey. Trainer, Michael Hemmings was impressed enough by her performance, he has set her the job of tackling Class 3 company today but has a few advantages here to help her out. She is drawn nicely in gate three and maps to be on the speed from the outset. Apprentice, Olivia Kendall is the new pilot for this assignment and she brings a1.5kg claim with her, seeing the mare carrying just 52.5kgs today, 1.5kgs under the limit. With a trouble-free run, she can give this event a real shake at odds.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 7:  No.8  SPIRIT OF MILAN

Second-up today, SPIRIT OF MILAN makes the 2.5 hour trek from the Gold Coast in search of back-to-back victories in this contest and looks a sneaky chance of success at odds. Last start, the Spirit Of Boom mare came off a lengthy 10-month absence when she clobbered them in a BM50 over 1010m at Ballina. Carrying 61.5kgs on fresh legs, she put 1.5 lengths on the field, leading all the way. She is yet to show-up off a first-up run but gets the gun-run from gate one today and should have little trouble in finding the front from there. After the claim, she carries 5.5kgs less today and looks set to give this field something to chase and is well worth an each-way ticket here.
