Bordertown Racing Tips 28 June 2026 — can Moana’s Fortune boss them fresh?

Bordertown Racing Tips 28 June 2026 — can Moana’s Fortune boss them fresh?

The most actionable piece of information on this Bordertown card isn’t a sexy speed map or a hidden trial, it’s a simple reality check: most of these fields have almost no meaningful course history. That pushes you back to the basics: who’s trending toward a win, who maps to get the run, and which connections actually look like they’ve placed a horse to strike today.

We’ve got three races on the turf, kicking off at 11:20. Two maidens to start, then a Benchmark 56 over a testing 1695m where the topweight has been winning more often than not. These Bordertown racing tips are written for the punter who wants a point of view, not a spreadsheet. I’ll make a call in each, name the horse that can beat mine, and tell you exactly how I’d bet it.

Bordertown, the setup

Surface is turf and we’re working without a published going in the feed, so don’t overthink “track specialists” here. In fact, course form is thin across the meeting: among today’s runners, only a handful even have a single Bordertown run recorded, and almost nobody has the 5 plus starts you’d want before throwing around big claims.

One course nugget worth keeping in your pocket: Teagan Voorham rides Bordertown well. She’s had 6 rides here for 1 win and 4 placings, so she hits the frame two thirds of the time on this track. That matters more on a day like this, where plenty of horses are still learning what racing is about.

Race-by-race Bordertown predictions

Race 1: Harpers Freight Mdn Plate — 11:20, 1422m

Eraja looks the one who’s earned the right to win a maiden. That form line of 6-4224 isn’t pretty on paper, but it screams “turn my way once I get the right run”, and today she gets a jockey who tends to make things happen around this track. Voorham’s Bordertown record is the best on the card by a margin and from a race like this, I’m happy to lean into that edge.

The worry is the gate. Barrier 13 over 1422m can force you into early work or a cold ride, and neither is ideal for a horse that’s been doing her best work late. The good news is she doesn’t have to lead. Let the inside horses hold their spots, slide across with cover if you can, and just keep her out of trouble. The recent form is also solid enough for a country maiden: she’s had two placings from her last two runs in the recent 90 day window, so she’s still in the game, not plateauing.

The danger I keep coming back to is Tassoro (gate 2). The 0-62 profile says he’s learning quickly, and Alysha Warren won’t need to be a hero from that draw. If he steps cleanly and holds a spot in the first half, he’s the one who can pinch it while Eraja is still circling.

Bet: Win bet Eraja. If you’re playing exotics, keep Tassoro as the saver in exactas, but I’m not going wide in a messy maiden.

Race 2: Sportsbet Same Race Multi Mdn Plate — 12:00, 1203m

Here’s the question that decides the race: do you back the horse with the upside, or the horse with the run already on the board?

I’m with Amical. He’s already shown he can win a race and then come back and run well again, and that’s the profile I want in a 1200m maiden where plenty of these are either debutants or still working out how to finish a race off. Gate 5 is perfect, you can be positive without being stupid, and if he lands in the first four in running he gets his chance to sprint, not grind.

His recent stats don’t scream “moral” because he’s only had one run in the last 90 days (finished fourth), but that’s not a knock at this level. It just means we don’t have a big recent sample, and we’re judging him more on raw ability and map than on a pile of recent results.

The horse that can make me look silly is Settle Petal (gate 4). Two starts, form 27, and she gets Alana Kelly, who has ridden a winner at Bordertown and is capable of giving one a soft run. If the tempo is only moderate and they stack up, she’s the one who can get the suck run and pop out at the 250m.

Bet: Win bet Amical. Small saver on Settle Petal if you want protection, because the draw gives her every chance to be in the first three turning.

Race 3: Creaser Constructions (Bm56) — 12:40, 1695m

The market would usually try to talk you out of a big weight in a country Benchmark, but I’m not interested in being talked out of the obvious when the obvious has the right setup. Moana’s Fortune gets barrier 1, finds a winnable BM56, and brings the kind of form that wins these: 41341 before the spell. This is the horse with the clearest ceiling on the card.

Will Price is a plus too. He’s only had three rides at Bordertown but he’s already ridden a winner here and generally runs into the money more often than not. Travis Doudle also strikes at this track in small samples, and with only two runners recorded he’s already trained a winner here. It’s not a trend yet, but it’s enough to tell you he doesn’t waste bullets when he turns up.

Freshness is the only knock. The recent 90 day stats show no runs in that window, so we’re trusting the stable has him ready to go off the break. From gate 1 in a small field, you don’t need him at 100 percent. You need him tractable, in the first two or three, and able to lift from the 500m.

Spike Almighty is the danger. He’s got a bit more volatility in the form (5/33618) but Campbell Rawiller is the most proven jockey on the card by volume at Bordertown, with five rides for a win and two placings. If Spike Almighty gets cover and the favourite does any early work to hold the rail, that late sting can tell.

Bet: Win bet Moana’s Fortune. If you’re building a multi, he’s the banker leg. Save on Spike Almighty only if the price on Moana’s Fortune is short enough to make you nervous.

The plays

NAP: Moana’s Fortune (Race 3, 12:40). Gate 1 and a 41341 profile before the break is what you want in a 1695m BM56, and the Doudle stable has made its Bordertown runners count in limited appearances.

Value: Tassoro (Race 1, 11:20) as a saver or smaller win play. He maps to get the cheap run from barrier 2 while others are hunting for cover.

Banker for multis: Moana’s Fortune. It’s the one race where the map and the class edge both point the same way.

Each-way angle: I’d rather keep it simple today, but if you insist on a place play, Eraja appeals because she’s been finishing close enough often enough to keep collecting.

Course angle: Voorham is the rider I want on my side at this track. Six rides for four placings tells you she finds the right runs here even when the horse isn’t a standout.

Keep an eye on how the inside is playing in the first two races, because if the rail is hot early, Moana’s Fortune from gate 1 becomes even harder to beat than he already looks.
