Newcastle Racing Tips 27 June 2026 — can the track winners double up?
Newcastle – the setup
There’s a very particular kind of confidence you get when you see a lightly-raced horse who’s already handled Newcastle and now turns up in the right race, from the right gate, with a stable that keeps landing winners here. That’s the through-line on this card: a few with a previous win at the track, and a couple more who look like they’ve finally found their level.
We don’t have a stack of deep Newcastle histories in these fields. Plenty of runners are on their first or second look at the place, so I’m treating most of the course numbers as a note, not a badge. The exceptions are the riders and trainers with real volume at this circuit, because that’s where patterns start to mean something.
Track is listed as Turf, going not provided. If it plays fair, you’ll want horses that can take a position from their gate and control their own luck. If it gets leaderish, barriers 1 to 6 look even more attractive in the races with thin speed maps.

Race-by-race – Newcastle predictions
Race 1: Fay & Kalan’s Memorial Super Mdn Plate — 10:45, 984m
Kiss Of Gold looks the right horse to start the day. Two starts, and that “4-2” profile usually means the penny’s already dropped. Barrier 4 keeps Brock Ryan out of trouble, and with 984m on the program, I want the runner who can hold a spot without doing it the hard way.
The danger is Mr Cacciatore on debut for Ben Lees with C Reith. You don’t get many soft intros in provincial maidens when a stable uses Reith, and gate 3 screams “positive ride” rather than a soft educational run.
Of the rest, Bobby has placed on his only Newcastle start (finished third here) and that’s useful context, but he’s had enough chances now that I’m not diving in at the likely price. Misty Veil draws 13 and that’s a problem at this trip unless she’s lengths better.
Staking: Win bet Kiss Of Gold. Small saver quinella with Mr Cacciatore if you want cover.
Race 2: Independent Mobility & Rehab Provincial Mdn Hcp — 11:20, 1312m
Here’s the puzzle: do you take the talent with a tricky gate, or the grinder with the map? I’m leaning to Algorithmic because barrier 1 at 1312m is a weapon. His form line “5273-2” is honest, and he gets every chance to land one off the lead and make this a test of who can sustain a run, not who can sprint for 150m.
The filly with the placings that makes you sweat is Poshy’s Girl. She’s gone “222”, which is great and frustrating at the same time. She’s drawn 3, she’ll get the same cosy run again, and if the favourite over-races or gets cluttered up, she’s the one who punishes it.
Encryptix has the “3” on debut and that’s enough to keep in mind, but gate 9 means she likely has to spend petrol early to find cover. Stability from barrier 2 can improve, but his overall form reads like a place hope rather than a win bet.
Staking: Algorithmic to win. Exacta saver with Poshy’s Girl running second.
Race 3: Hunter Street Chambers Mdn Plate — 11:55, 1531m
The contrast makes this race: one horse keeps turning up and running well, another arrives with stable intent and unknown upside. I’m siding with the one that’s already in the groove, Agraffe Rocket. That “4-032” tells you he’s right on the edge and keeps holding form. Yes, barrier 15 is ugly, but over 1531m you at least have time to slide across and find a lane, especially if the early speed comes from inside and strings them out.
If you want the “could be better than them” runner, it’s Rapid Revenue first-up for Bjorn Baker with Brock Ryan. The stable’s Newcastle record stacks up over volume, and this is the sort of placement that often precedes a sharp jump in performance.
Viva Mauricio and Artgirl are both from the Waller yard, and that usually demands respect, but neither has been screaming “win bet” lately. Pink Persuasion has placed on his only Newcastle start (third here) which is a positive, but he’s still learning to put a race away.
Staking: Each-way Agraffe Rocket because of the gate. Small win saver Rapid Revenue if the market gives you a price.
Race 4: Skillsons Constructions Pty Ltd Hcp (C1) — 12:30, 1531m
The market can do what it likes, I’m sticking with the horse who’s already proved he can win at Newcastle and still looks ahead of the handicapper: Funshow. He’s “2-2231” and that’s a horse who keeps putting himself in the finish before finally getting the job done. He’s also won at this track before, and he’s placed in both of his course visits. That matters more than most on a day where plenty are guessing their way around Newcastle for the first time.
The obvious threat is Aethelwulf. He’s got the “2-1” profile and he won on his only Newcastle start, so you know he handles the circuit. He maps well enough from gate 8, and he’s in the Matthew Smith barn, which can land a knockout when they bring a progressive one through grades.
The knockout hope is Free And Fast from barrier 1. He’s a previous Newcastle winner and the inside draw can make a moderate horse look very good at 1500m. But I don’t love taking short odds about a runner whose form can spike and dip.
Staking: Win bet Funshow. Save on Aethelwulf if you’re playing with any sort of stake you’d miss.

The plays
My Newcastle racing tips land on two themes: map and proven comfort at the track. When the going is unknown and the fields are full of lightly-tested types, I’d rather back runners who either (a) can control their run from a low gate, or (b) have already shown they cope with Newcastle’s rhythm.
NAP: Funshow (Race 4, 12:30). He’s already won here and he keeps finding the line. This looks like a logical step, not a hopeful one.
Value: Agraffe Rocket (Race 3, 11:55) each-way. The wide draw forces you to take a price, but his recent pattern says he’s ready to win if he gets even luck.
Banker for multis: Kiss Of Gold (Race 1, 10:45). Lightly raced, improving, and drawn to get the right run in a short sharp maiden.
Each-way angle: Poshy’s Girl (Race 2, 11:20). Three straight seconds is a pain for win punters, but it also means she keeps being there when others don’t.
Course angle to keep filing away: Mitchell Bell and K S Latham both ride Newcastle like it’s their backyard, and their place strike rates back that up across proper samples. When they’re on something with an inside gate, you can upgrade it without feeling like you’re guessing.
One thing I’ll be watching for next Newcastle meeting: whether the inside lanes keep rewarding early position. If they do, these low-draw maps become even more valuable than the raw form.
FAQ
What time does racing start at Newcastle today?
Racing kicks off at 10:45 with the Fay & Kalan’s Memorial Super Mdn Plate (Race 1).
Who are the top jockeys at Newcastle on today’s numbers?
If you want riders with real volume at this track, Mitchell Bell hits the frame often here (27 placings from 46 rides) and K S Latham is a strong Newcastle operator too (29 placings from 56 rides). Leeshelle Small has a sharp record at the course as well, with 16 rides producing 4 wins and 8 placings.
Who are the top trainers at Newcastle on today’s numbers?
K A Lees has the deepest Newcastle body of work among today’s trainers (52 runners for 7 wins and 21 placings). Nathan Doyle also places half his Newcastle runners (15 placings from 30), and G Ryan & S Alexiou have been a consistent stable here with 10 placings from 17 runners.
What are the Newcastle best bets on this card?
My Newcastle best bets are Funshow in Race 4 (a previous Newcastle winner who’s placed in both course runs) and Kiss Of Gold in Race 1 (lightly raced and trending the right way from a good draw). For a price, Agraffe Rocket in Race 3 appeals each-way despite the wide gate.
Where can I find the best odds for Newcastle races?
Prices move quickly on provincials, so the best approach is to compare a couple of books close to jump. If you’re shopping for Newcastle odds, start with your preferred bookies and look for a drift on runners like Agraffe Rocket (wide gate tends to push the price out) and any support for debutants like Mr Cacciatore in Race 1.
