Pinjarra Racing Tips 27 April — can King Brew stay unbeaten?

Pinjarra wants you to make one decision early

There’s a type of Pinjarra race that either makes your day simple or ruins your lunch: a small-field handicap where one horse is rock-hard fit, loves the place, and looks like it’s arrived… but the map still asks a question.

That’s King Brew in the opener. He’s four straight, he’s proven at this track, and the stable has him absolutely humming. The only way you talk yourself out of him is if you think the race shape turns it into a messy sit-sprint where the wrong horse gets the cheap lead and doesn’t come back.

These Pinjarra racing tips are written for exactly that moment. Four races, turf, and plenty of runners with only one or two goes here, so I’m leaning harder on current form, barriers, and who controls the first 600 metres. You’ll get a clear pick in every race, the one danger that can beat it, and what I’d actually do with the stake.

Pinjarra — the setup

Limited course form across today’s fields. A few have 3 or 4 runs here, but a lot of the card is runners with one or two visits, which is a data point rather than a pattern.

Where the track history does matter today is the humans. We’ve got enough volume to take the top riders seriously, and it lines up neatly with what you’d expect at Pinjarra.

Race-by-race

Race 1: Tabtouch Download The App Today Hcp (C3) — 12:37, 1531m

King Brew looks like the day’s anchor, and I’m happy to start there. Four on the bounce (form 2211), drawn to land in the first two pairs (gate 4), and he’s already shown he handles Pinjarra with 3 runs here for 2 wins and a placing. That’s not enough to call him a “specialist”, but it is enough to trust he won’t waste the run by hating the place.

The part I like most is that the recent results back up the eye test. Over his last 90 days he’s gone 4 runs for 2 wins and he’s been in the money every time, with an average finishing spot of 1.5. That’s the profile of a horse racing right at his mark, not one fluking a couple of wins.

The danger is Zorbrist. He’s got the map to stalk from gate 3 with Brad Parnham, and that rider can turn a “pretty good” run into a winning one just by not panicking at the wrong moment. Zorbrist’s overall recent record reads more solid than explosive (6 runs in the last 90 days for one win and three placings), but he’s the one who can make King Brew earn it.

Staking: Win bet King Brew. If you’re playing a saver, save on Zorbrist in the quinella rather than trying to get clever with the rest.

Race 2: Country Comfort Perth Mdn — 13:12, 1750m

Does the race get won by the horse that’s been knocking the door down, or by the one who controls the map? I’m siding with the door-knocker: Midnight Star.

His form line is the right kind of frustrating: 543223. It screams “ready”, and getting W Pike is the key difference between another honest placing and finally putting them away. Pike wins more than a quarter of his Pinjarra rides and hits the frame almost two-thirds of the time (36 rides, 10 wins, 23 placings). From barrier 3 in a maiden over 1750m, he should be able to hold a spot and make the sprint from the 600m when he wants, not when the leaders allow it.

The danger is Arizona Sky (form 3-2). Two starts, two strong efforts, and the Williams yard doesn’t need many goes to have them ready at this level. Gate 6 isn’t poison, but it does ask the rider to make a decision early: snag and be patient, or work across and risk doing too much.

Staking: Win bet Midnight Star. If the price is tight, take a straight quinella with Arizona Sky rather than spreading wider. This looks a two-horse race on profile.

Race 3: Vale Bill Pope Mdn — 13:47, 1422m

The market will probably lean to the names with the sexier connections, but there’s a very Pinjarra way to win this: be forward, be tough, and don’t give away cheap lengths. That points me to Premium Boy from gate 1.

He’s only had the one start (form 4), so you don’t get to pretend you know exactly what his ceiling is. But the set-up is clear: inside draw, Paddy Harvey aboard, and a trip where track position matters. Harvey wins one in four at Pinjarra from a small but meaningful sample (4 rides, 1 win), and he’s the sort who’ll use barrier 1 properly. If Premium Boy can hold the fence and control the first bend, half this field will be chasing before they’ve even balanced up.

The obvious danger is Playa Del Sol (form 6-5623). She’s fitter, she’s been around the block, and she’s had three goes at Pinjarra for two placings. That’s not a trend yet, but it does say she copes with the track. Lucy Fiore is also a plus around here, hitting the frame regularly from plenty of rides.

Staking: Small win bet Premium Boy, save quinella Premium Boy and Playa Del Sol. If Premium Boy drifts and looks like the yard is happy to gamble, you can press.

Race 4: Essential Aircor Services Mdn — 14:22, 1422m

This is the race where the odds usually do the lying, because you’ve got a stack of exposed maidens and a couple of lightly raced types with upside. I’m backing upside: Land Of Nod.

One start (form 5), and straight back to the races with W Pike sticking. That’s the stable telling you the debut did what it needed to do. He’s drawn 11, so Pike has to earn it, but wide gates at Pinjarra can still win if the horse has a turn of foot and the rider doesn’t burn petrol early. If he slides across with cover, he’s the one who can put the race away with a single move.

The danger is So I Thought, purely on the booking. Brad Parnham for Pearce is never an accident, and debutants in these maidens can jump out of the ground. If the tempo is only moderate, the newcomer with the best tactical speed can pinch it.

I’m happy to oppose the older exposed brigade like Cousin Mortimer and Divine Currency as win candidates. They can run a place, but they’ve had enough chances that you’re betting on the race falling into their lap.

Staking: Each-way Land Of Nod. If he’s too short to play each-way, go win only and keep the stake sensible. This race has more ways to go wrong than the earlier legs.

Where the money goes

The Pinjarra best bets angle today is simple: back the horses who either (a) keep putting themselves in the finish, or (b) get the rider upgrade that turns “nearly” into “now”. That’s why I’m building everything around King Brew early. He’s already handled Pinjarra (3 runs for 2 wins and a placing) and his recent strike rate is strong too, with 2 wins from 4 runs in the last 90 days while staying in the money every time.

The value play is Premium Boy in Race 3. You’re buying map and intent rather than a fat form line. Barrier 1 with Harvey gives him first crack at controlling the race, and over this trip that matters.

Your banker for multis is still King Brew. If you want a second leg, make it Midnight Star rather than trying to be a hero in the last. He’s been thereabouts all prep (543223) and Pike at Pinjarra is as close as you get to a repeatable advantage.

One note for Pinjarra predictions going forward: keep tracking the Pike rides in these midweek maidens. When he sticks with a horse second-up, it’s rarely for exercise.
