Taree Racing Tips 30 June — can Microgravity bully them?
There’s one runner on this Taree card that reads like a bully in the right playground: Microgravity in the 1750m Class 1. He’s been winning races, he maps to get his chance even from awkward alleys, and he brings a stable profile that actually stacks up at this track. Around him, the meeting has that proper winter-country feel: big fields, a couple of tricky maidens, and two handicaps where barrier and tempo matter more than any shiny number.
So that’s how I played it this morning. Start with the races that can be bet with confidence, then work backwards through the ones that need discipline. You’ll get the on-speed horses to respect, the closers that need pace, and the riders and trainers who repeatedly land punches at this venue. These are my Taree racing tips for Tuesday 30 June, written for the time-poor punter who still wants reasons, not just names.
Taree — the setup
We’re on turf and most of the fields lean lightly-raced or mixed-form, which means you want to be sharp about what’s signal and what’s noise.
Limited course form across today’s fields. Most runners have one or two starts here, so I’m treating “Taree record” as context, not gospel, unless the sample’s meaningful.
Jockeys worth following here (minimum 5 rides at Taree):
| Jockey | Runs | Wins | Places | Win% | Place% |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| A Bullock | 18 | 4 | 12 | 22.22 | 66.67 |
| B Looker | 25 | 6 | 12 | 24.00 | 48.00 |
| Liberty Smyth | 30 | 6 | 14 | 20.00 | 46.67 |
| M Bennett | 21 | 3 | 10 | 14.29 | 47.62 |
| Shannen Llewellyn | 22 | 2 | 10 | 9.09 | 45.45 |
Trainers who consistently land a runner here (minimum 5 runners at Taree):
| Trainer | Runs | Wins | Places | Win% | Place% |

Race-by-race: Taree tips and previews
Race 1: Cafe Nosh Mdn Hcp — 12:10, 1094m
Arakoola looks the right anchor to start the day. He’s the one runner in this maiden with a clean recent sign on the page, and the set-up suits: 1094m, gate 4, and he carries the top weight but not in a way that scares you in a thin maiden. His only recent run in the window we checked was a fourth, and that’s not a glowing stat line, but it’s also exactly what you want when the bulk of the opposition brings either no exposed form or messy sequences.
The danger is Kasumi from gate 2. She’s had enough chances (4yo, plenty of racing), but she’s drawn to hold a spot and she doesn’t need to improve a stack to be in the finish in this grade. If the leaders overdo it, she’s the one who can pinch cheap ground and hang on.
Staking: Win bet Arakoola. Small saver only on Kasumi if you want cover from the inside run.
Race 2: De Bortoli Country Boosted Mdn Plate — 12:45, 1367m
Here’s the puzzle: do you side with the horse who keeps knocking, or the one with less exposed ceiling? I’m leaning to the knockers because this is 1367m, a trip where race sense and position can beat raw “maybe” ability.
Fashion Spree gets that chance from barrier 1. The form string (223446) says she’s around the mark often enough, and the inside draw means she doesn’t need luck to land midfield with cover. At this track she’s had one go and finished fourth, which is a data point rather than a pattern, but it does tell you she handles the joint.
I respect Nulkaba Star as the main threat. He’s had one start here and ran second, and in maidens that kind of “I’ve been in the fight” course visit matters because plenty of these haven’t. If he gets a soft run from the awkward gate 11, he’s the one I’d fear late.
Staking: Win bet Fashion Spree. Exacta saver with Nulkaba Star running second if you play that way.
Race 3: Tradies Day August 14 Mdn Hcp — 13:20, 1531m
This is the first race where I’m happy to be a bit firmer with money because there’s a profile you can actually trust. Hold My Drink keeps putting himself in the finish and doesn’t need things to go perfectly. In his last five runs (in our recent window) he’s placed three times, and his average finish sits around the money rather than out the back. That’s a horse you can bet in a maiden handicap without feeling like you’re lighting cash.
Barrier 5 helps, and the 1531m looks ideal for a runner who keeps finding one or two better without falling away. B Looker jumps aboard and he’s not just “a name on the page” at Taree either, he wins here and hits the frame often enough that you can take the booking seriously.
The danger is Miss Bugatti. Her recent form line reads like she’s finally getting her head in front elsewhere (539421), and while her Taree record is only two runs with no placings, this trip gives her time to build into it if the pace is even.
Staking: Win bet Hold My Drink. If you’re playing two, save on Miss Bugatti.
Race 4: Functions @ Mvrc Plate (C1) — 13:55, 1750m
Microgravity is the one I want to build the day around. He’s the type that keeps turning up in the right races and making you look smart if you just keep it simple. His recent record is strong: four runs in the last window for one win and three placings, with an average finish of 2.75. That’s not “country promise”, that’s a horse in form.
The map is the only query. Gate 14 isn’t kind at 1750m, so B Looker has to make a decision early: roll forward and risk doing work, or snag back and trust the tempo. Either way, I’m comfortable because the stable has serious Taree numbers: J C Deamer wins two out of five here and has placed them all. That’s a proper sample, not one lucky strike.
Moana Gold is the obvious danger. She’s coming off a win (364314) and draws 5, which is the kind of soft run Microgravity might not get. If this turns into a sit and sprint from the 600m, Moana Gold has the map advantage to pinch it.
Staking: Win bet Microgravity. Save on Moana Gold if the market gives you a price that makes sense.

Race 5: Gloucester Cup July 9 (Bm58) — 14:35, 2187m
Stayers at country level can make fools of us because they either get a rhythm and keep rolling, or they get stopped and never find their feet. I’m siding with the horse who’s actually been able to run well here more than once: Prince Is Game.
He’s had two goes at Taree and has a win plus another placing. That’s not enough to label him anything fancy, but it is enough to say he’s comfortable in the environment. Barrier 2 is perfect at 2187m, and Anna Roper can ride the race rather than chase it.
The danger is Thundering Falcon. His recent form (40-051) says he’s found a spike, and he draws 5 to be close enough without burning petrol. If Prince Is Game gets softened in a mid-race squeeze, Thundering Falcon can be the one launching at the right time.
Staking: Win bet Prince Is Game. If you’re playing exotics, keep Thundering Falcon boxed in with him.
Race 6: Xxxx Gold Country Boosted (Bm58) — 15:10, 1531m
The market usually overreacts to the “last start win” horses in races like this, but there’s one that’s earned respect through consistency rather than one spike: I’m Super.
He’s drawn 1, he comes in with a sharp form line (45-112), and he’s already handled Taree once with a placing. Again, one run here is only a reference point, not a title, but the inside draw at 1531m is a real edge for a horse who wants to be prominent without doing silly work.
I’m keeping a serious eye on Spartan Steel even from gate 18. The form (541) says he’s trending the right way fast, and J Louizos as a yard has a small but encouraging record here with winners. If he finds cover and the race breaks open late, he’s the one with upside.
Staking: Win bet I’m Super. Small saver on Spartan Steel if he drifts to a price that pays you for the gate.
Race 7: Sky International (Bm66) — 15:45, 1094m
This is the race where you can get tempted into spraying because there are names everywhere. I’m not doing that. I’m backing the horse with the cleanest current profile and a set-up that makes sense: Cool Fizz.
He brings a strong form line (5211-2), and he looks like the type who controls his own fate in these sharper sprints. From barrier 5 he can land in the first four without burning. If G Spokes can avoid getting posted, Cool Fizz gets every chance to be the one still finding late when others are flat-footed.
The danger is Love Rat from gate 1. He’s got three runs at Taree for a win and another placing, and at 1094m that inside draw can turn into a weapon if they overdo it up front and he gets the box-seat.
Staking: Win bet Cool Fizz. If you want a safer angle, take Love Rat as the saver because the map gives him every chance to beat you without actually being better.
The plays
I’m keeping it tight because this is a card where discipline matters more than creativity. My Taree best bets start with the Class 1: Microgravity (Race 4, 13:55) is the NAP. He’s been in the money three times from four runs in the recent window we checked, and the Deamer stable has the kind of Taree strike that makes you respect intent, not just hope.
The value angle sits with Prince Is Game (Race 5, 14:35). Two visits to this track for a win and a placing is enough to trust he’ll travel and handle the day, and barrier 2 gives him first crack at the right positions in a staying race that can turn messy.
If you’re building multis, the banker is Hold My Drink (Race 3, 13:20). No wins in the last five, but he keeps placing and that’s what you want when maidens start playing tricks.
Each-way runners I can live with include Love Rat late (Race 7) because the gate and his Taree record give him a genuine chance to run top three even if he doesn’t get the race to suit perfectly.
One course angle to carry forward: when a meeting throws up a Deamer runner with even half-decent form, don’t ignore it at Taree. That stable profile keeps translating here.
