Warwick Farm Racing Tips 15 July — Can Freedman keep rolling?

The best clue on this Warwick Farm card is sitting in plain sight. One stable turns up with runners in multiple races, and they are not just making up the numbers either. Michael Freedman has a proper Warwick Farm profile, and when you see that alongside a couple of runners who have already proven they can handle this track, it shapes how I want to bet the meeting.

We have three races on turf, all set around the sprint and mile sweet spots, and that means barriers, early intent, and who lands one out one back matter more than any fancy theory. These Warwick Farm racing tips are written the way you would map the meeting for a mate: where I think the money should go, where you can keep it in your pocket, and which stables and riders I trust when it gets tactical.

Warwick Farm — the setup

Limited course form across today’s fields. Most runners have just one Warwick Farm start on the board, so I am treating the track numbers as supporting evidence, not gospel.

That said, three trainers do have enough volume here to actually take seriously. G Waterhouse and A Bott strike at 32.65% at Warwick Farm from 49 runners and hit the frame 63.27% of the time. Michael Freedman is even more reliable for a collect, placing 75% of his Warwick Farm runners (16 starts) and winning 25%. Chris Waller brings the army everywhere, but his Warwick Farm record is more workmanlike: 107 runners for a 5.61% win rate and 36.45% placings.

Trainer Runs Wins Places Win% Place%
G Waterhouse & A Bott 49 16 31 32.65 63.27
Michael Freedman 16 4 12 25.00 75.00
C J Waller 107 6 39 5.61 36.45

On the jockey side, Rachel King is the one rider on the card with a proper body of work here: 19 rides for five wins and 12 placings, so she lands in the frame almost two rides out of three. Dylan Gibbons has five wins from 25 rides, while Tommy Berry’s the familiar big meeting rider with 48 rides for eight wins.

Jockey Runs Wins Places Win% Place%
Rachel King 19 5 12 26.32 63.16
Dylan Gibbons 25 5 7 20.00 28.00
Tommy Berry 48 8 19 16.67 39.58
Zac Lloyd 39 3 23 7.69 58.97

Race-by-race

Race 1: Racing And Sports Mdn Plate — 12:50, 1203m

The contender here is Eviction Notice (Barrier 9, 59kg) because it is the one horse in the race with a proper, lived-in profile: 7-327 this prep and Rachel King climbing aboard for Waterhouse and Bott. You do not need to imagine improvement. It is already happening, and that stable’s Warwick Farm record is the strongest on the meeting with real sample size.

The map looks forgiving too. In these 2YO 1200m maidens you often get a messy first 200m, but a seasoned rider like King can make her own luck from a middle gate and land on the back of the speed without burning the tank. The set weights does not hurt, and I would rather be with the runner that has shown it can take a spot and find the line than guess which first starter has the right education.

The danger is the inside-drawn Castillo King (Barrier 1) for Freedman and Tommy Berry. Freedman’s Warwick Farm runners are nearly always in the fight, and gate one over 1200m gives Berry options: lead if the race is soft, or box seat if something kicks up outside him.

Play: Win bet Eviction Notice. Save a small exacta with Castillo King running second if you want to keep it neat.

Race 2: Robrick Lodge Mdn Plate — 13:25, 1203m

The question in this race is simple: do you want to back the horse with the right draw and the right stable intent, or take the wide gate and hope it falls in your lap? I am siding with Rocket Girl (Barrier 1) as the bet because she has already shown enough ability to run third, and now she gets the soft run profile you want at Warwick Farm: inside gate, Tommy Berry, and a stable that knows how to win races here even without dominating the raw win strike.

She also owns a tiny Warwick Farm tick: placed on her only start here. That is not a trend, but it tells you she does not get lost around this circuit.

The one I respect most is Promenade (Barrier 3) for Freedman and Dylan Gibbons. Promenade has run second and fifth in the formline shown, and also placed on her only Warwick Farm appearance. Freedman at this track is the sort of angle you can keep coming back to, because he does not just place them here, he places them often.

One more for the multiples: Coco Affair (Barrier 4, Zac Lloyd) has already placed on its only Warwick Farm run and draws to stalk and pounce. Lloyd does not win many here, but he hits the frame regularly, and that matters when the race turns into a 300m dash.

Play: Win bet Rocket Girl. Quinella saver Rocket Girl with Promenade.

Race 3: Asahi Super Dry Mdn Hcp — 14:00, 1531m

This is the market problem race even without live Warwick Farm odds on my screen: the horse that keeps finding one better usually gets overbet, and the horse that is ready to control the pattern often gets ignored. I am backing Claudel (Barrier 11, 58kg) to finally convert because the formline screams “breakthrough” rather than “professional bridesmaid”. Three straight seconds tells you he keeps putting himself in the race, and Tommy Berry taking the ride for Waller looks like a deliberate push to make it happen today.

Yes, the barrier is awkward, but 1531m at Warwick Farm gives Berry time to sort it out. He does not need to snag back to last. He can slide across, land midfield with cover, and start the move when the leaders hesitate. Claudel has also already placed on his only start here, which is enough reassurance that the track itself will not beat him.

The danger is Clanwilliam (Barrier 8, 57.5kg) for David Payne and C Schofield. The 4-2533 profile says he is always around the money and he maps to get a cleaner run than Claudel. If the tempo is only moderate, the horse closer in running can pinch it before the swoopers build momentum.

I also want Red Sentinel (Barrier 2, top weight 58.5kg) kept safe. Second-up improvement is the obvious angle, and from gate two Dylan Gibbons can give him the best run in the race. If this turns into a sit and sprint, the horse already holding the rail can be very hard to get past.

Play: Win bet Claudel. Small saver on Clanwilliam if Claudel drifts and you can afford the cover.

The plays

NAP: Claudel (Race 3, 14:00). Three straight seconds and the Berry booking reads like “today is the day”. Even from the wide draw, the extra trip gives him time to find a spot and use that sustained finish.

Value: Rocket Girl (Race 2, 13:25). Third last time, inside gate, and the kind of run where Berry can make the right decision twice: once at the 800m and again at the 300m.

Banker for multis: Eviction Notice (Race 1, 12:50) as a top-two anchor. Waterhouse and Bott at Warwick Farm is not a cute angle, it is 49 runners of evidence, and Rachel King is the best course jockey on this card by a margin.

Each-way play: Promenade (Race 2, 13:25). Freedman places three out of every four runners here, and Promenade has already hit the frame on her only Warwick Farm run. That is the shape of a place bet I can live with.

Course angle to keep: When Freedman turns up at Warwick Farm, he does not miss the money often. Track that stable here for the next month, because the strike sits in the placing rate, not just the winners.
