Doncaster Mile Nominations – The Road To The Randwick Mile

The Doncaster Mile is one of the highlights on Day 1 of The Championships. It is a 1600m handicap race held at Royal Randwick Racecourse.

There will be two rounds of nominations for the 2025 Doncaster Mile with the first at 9:00am on February 11, 2025. The final nominations are taken at 12:00pm on March 11, 2025.

Doncaster Mile Barrier Draw – When, Where And How Is It Conducted?

The final field and barrier draw for the 2025 Doncaster Mile will be held on Tuesday, April 01, 2025.

With the Doncaster Mile being one of the biggest thoroughbred races of the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival, there will generally be a barrier draw function held to determine the starting gates for each runner.

Connections of each horse will take turns to randomly select a barrier for their respective runner.

Is There A Barrier Bias in the Doncaster Mile?

The Doncaster Mile is a wonderful race where any barrier draw could produce the winner of the race.

From 1996, only two barriers have had three winners each, and they were barriers 12 and 16.

During that timeframe, almost every single barrier has returned a winner too which shows that there is no barrier draw bias in the Doncaster Mile.

The race attracts large fields which is why wide draws have produced winners, including the 2019 edition when Brutal was victorious after jumping from gate 18.
