Melbourne Cup Scratchings 2022
No doubt debate will again take place on whether emergencies should be included in the Melbourne Cup following two scratchings in 2022.
Point Nepean was scratched on Monday morning with trainer Robert Hickmott advising Racing Victoria (RV) stewards that the horse had returned elevated blood results.
RV vets saw signs of Grahame Begg’s mare Lunar Flare showing lameness in the off fore and was passed not fit on Tuesday morning.
RV vets re-inspected Lunar Flare and Interpretation this morning ahead of today’s Lexus Melbourne Cup. Lunar Flare still presented with lameness in the off fore and was not passed fit.

The scratching of Point Nepean leaves Irish jockey Wayne Lordan without a ride in the Melbourne Cup having travelled half-way around the world for the iconic event, while in-form local hoop Michael Dee misses out on Lunar Flare.
Dee has been in hot form this spring with wins in the Caulfield Cup (2400m) aboard Durston and then the Victoria Derby (2500m) when steering Manzoice to victory.

• If your 2nd Racing Bet is $50, you will be awarded a $50 Racing Bonus Bet.
5.2.4. Any Eligible Customer who has received or claimed any other Promotional Offer is NOT eligible to receive this offer, unless Palmerbet determines otherwise.
5.2.5. A qualifying bet for the purpose of this promotion is an Eligible Customer’s 2nd Racing Bet only.
5.2.6. A Racing Bonus Bet is restricted to racing products.
5.2.7. A Racing Bonus Bet will be credited to your Betting Account within 24 hours.
5.2.8. If any Bonus Bets have not been used by the expiry date, any remaining Bonus Bet funds (if it has not already been used) will be withdrawn from that customer’s Betting Account.
5.2.9. A Racing Bonus Bet must be taken as offered and cannot be varied or redeemed for cash. The Racing Bonus Bet value is GST inclusive and is in Australian dollars.
5.2.10. A Racing Bonus Bet cannot be transferred to any third party.
5.2.11. Only one Racing Bonus Bet is available per I.P. (Internet Protocol), registered address, or family member.
5.2.12. Any Eligible Customer with a hidden, unidentified I.P addresses or deemed to be using a VPN will not be eligible for a Racing Bonus Bet.
5.2.13. If an Eligible Customer makes a withdrawal request of their Racing Bonus Bet (or a part of it) prior to using that Bonus Bet, the Bonus Bet will be cancelled and forfeited.
