Zaaki draws barrier 1 for the Canterbury Stakes
The Annabel Neasham-trained Zaaki has drawn barrier 1 for Saturday’s Group 1 Canterbury Stakes (1300m) at Royal Randwick.
A final field of 10 has been declared for Saturday’s Group 1 Canterbury Stakes (1600m) at Randwick.
Zaaki, who headlines the strong field, drew barrier 1 as the seven-year-old gelding returns from a few months off following his impressive last preparation, which included victories in the Group 1 Underwood Stakes and the G1 Mackinnon.
The stable of Richard and Michael Freedman are flying at the moment and their four-year-old mare Forbidden Love, will be aiming to add to her strong victory in the Group 2 Guy Walter last weekend from barrier 8 with Hugh Bowman in the saddle.
Of the other serious contenders, Lighthouse drew barrier 3 for Ciaron Maher & David Eustace, Private Eye will jump from barrier 7 and Laws Of Indices will start from barrier 5.
