BEST BET 🏆

Race 6:  No.7  ZABELLSARERINGING

David Blundell saddles-up a couple here with ZABELLSARERINGING the more likely to take this contest out today. Last start, the Zariz gelding finished runner-up for the third time this preparation when he chased hard in the run home, but couldn’t match it with the winner, finishing two lengths back in the Class 3 Hcp over the mile at Canberra. Dropping sharply in grade today, he gets the gun-run from gate one and has Kayla Nisbet sticking with him for this assignment. His best results come on dry ground so today’s Good 4 looks ideal for him. Over due for a change of luck, it can happen in this event.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 2:  No.5  DUPRIDE STAR

The Gary Colvin-trained DUPRIDE STAR will strip fitter second-up today and in the small field here, looks a serious contender for the big prize. Last start, the Pride Of Dubai mare was fresh off a 22-week spell when she finished just behind the placegetters in a BM66 Hcp over 1200m on her home track at Wagga. Fifty metres shorter and she claim first prize, as she took the lead soon after straightening but was grabbed by three swoopers just short of the line. She is a winner when second-up and hasn’t missed a podium finish in three second-up appearances. She is also at winner at the Albury track and looks a big chance today.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 5:  No.8  DEEP CORE

The Wagga-based galloper, DEEP CORE has been thereabouts this time in and this contest looks ideal for him today. Two starts back, the Deep Field gelding broke through for his maiden win and did it in style as he put 2.5 lengths on the 11-strong field over 1200m at Corowa. He then followed that up with an unplaced run against Class 1 opponents, here over 1175m where he settled too far back and left himself no chance of making up the ground. Danny Beasley returns for his second ride on the three-year-old who draws nicely in gate three today. Ridden closer to the speed, he should figure in the finish here at good odds.
