Bordertown Tips 10/05/2024

BEST BET 🏆

Race 4 No. 4 THEBIGSOSSO ($2.60)

Oakbank trainer Ali Brook will have THEBIGSOSSO fitter and ready to win at Bordertown Racecourse on Friday. The horse was beaten by a handy one in Gusty Way when racing on the speed when resuming. Beaten for speed and didn’t finish all that far off another handy galloper in Storyteller over 1000m on the Parks track. Went oh-so-close after missing the kick at home two starts ago. Utah Joe managed to cling on in a photo to deny Thebigsosso who was closing out late. Not sure what happened when we backed the horse at Gawler last start when The Bigsosso was well supported to finish down the track. We’ll put a line through that run and get our money back with him at Bordertown tomorrow.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 8 No. 3 WANNASCHMACK ($4.20)

Nicole Irwin did get WANNASCHMACK out to a trip two starts after breaking his maiden over the mile in Murray Bridge. We backed the horse as our best bet of the day in that maiden which he dominated under regular rider Callan Murray. Wannaschmack found the front a little earlier than Murray would’ve liked before grinding away up the big straight for a strong win. Irwin then gave the horse another run over 1700m in a restricted 58 race where Wannschmack was one of the only horses to make ground on the day. Beaten a long way on the tight undulating track at Strathalbyn last start and should feel more at home at Bordertown.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 9 No. 1 FOURTH POWER ($6.50)

We marked FOURTH POWER as a horse of interest following two dominant on-speed wins at Clare. Justin Pickering chose to take the scenic route to the provincials with his new stable acquisition following an impressive jump out win. Fourth Power rolled forward in a handy BM56 before coming away from his opposition first-up over 1200m. Rider Tala Hutchinson lost an iron as Fourth Power stepped sideways out of the machine’s second-up. The horse still had the pace to burn them off as Hutchinson somehow managed to regain her positioning in the saddle. The pair went on to score again, this time at BM58 level. Scored a comfortable win for us at Gawler on ANZAC Day and we’ll be happy to keep following.
