BEST BET 🏆

Race 7:  No.12  THE SWOOPER  ($7.50 with Neds)

Team Hawkes saddle-up THE SWOOPER here who has improved with three runs back and now looks ready to win. Last start, the Divine Prophet gelding held his own when beating all but the winner home in a BM72 Hcp, here over 1250m with Tyler Schiller aboard, having his second ride on the galloper. He is drawn out in gate nine today but his early gate speed has him settling in the first half-dozen. Schiller sticks with him here and meeting similar company today, he will be at his peak now and with a trouble-free run, should take beating.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 5:  No.4  SWEET BABY BOOM  ($4.45 with BoomBet)

The Waterhouse and Bott team saddle-up SWEET BABY BOOM here who is third-up and in-line for back-to-back wins today. Last start, the lightly-raced Spirit Of Boom mare was second-up when she fought like a caged tiger to prevail in winning a BM72 Hcp over 1150m on Randwick’s Kensington track. Ridden a treat by Tim Clark, the mare was headed inside the final 150m but fought back to regain the lead and take home the chocolates that day. With Clark out injured, Amy McLucas has the job today and after her claim, the four-year-old carries less weight than her last-start victory. She gets the gun-run from gate one today and should take beating again.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 2:  No.4  LYRICAL LADY  ($7 with Ladbrokes)

The Kris Lees-trained LYRICAL LADY is second-up today and has a resume that suggests she is a genuine contender in this contest. Last start, the European-bred mare came off a 17-week spell and was impressive when beating all but one home in a BM68 Hcp over 1600m at Wyong. Dylan Gibbons had his third ride on the mare that day and made it three-straight silver medal finishes in the process. She steps up in distance today but is no stranger to this journey, winning a Class 3 Hcp by four lengths at Salisbury in June last year. Gibbons sticks with her today where she draws to do no early work from gate one. She is already a winner when second-up and despite being her first visit to a city track, she is capable of showing up today at odds.
