BEST BET 🏆

Race 7:  No.5  BRENTWOOD

Second-up here, the Tony Gollan-trained BRENTWOOD comes off an impressive first-up run and just has to break a few hoodoos here to make it two-straight. Last start, the I Am Invincible gelding resumed off a lengthy 22-week break and showing no signs of fatigue, clobbered his rivals in a BM72 Hcp over 1200m at Doomben. James Orman racked-up his third win on the five-year-old that day as he crossed the line two lengths clear in the end. Orman remains aboard here and enjoys a 23% success rate with the Gollan stable. Yet to win when second-up and still out of the money after three starts here, the galloper needs to turn that all around here and drawing gate five is a good start. More mature now and fitter for that one runback, he gets his chance in this contest.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 4:  No.12  FLUER DU MONDE

The Chris Waller-trained FLUER DU MONDE is in good touch of late and at the weights, looks well placed here for a shot at the big money. Last start, the Dundeel mare wasn’t too far away when she collected third prize in a BM72 Hcp, here over 1805m. Mark Du Plessis was in charge that day and has thew reins again for this contest. The four-year-old steps-up in grade here but drops 3kgs in the process. She has won twice on wet tracks which is a bonus with conditions on Saturday looking grim for dry track fans. Placed twice from tree previous visits to Eagle Farm, the mare looks right in the mix here.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 6:  No.13  LENNIC

Scott Morrissey saddles-up LENNIC here who is high-flying and set for the hat-trick here. Last start, the I Am Invincible mare came off a crushing win in a Doomben Maiden when she franked that effort by taking out a Class 1 Hcp over 1200m at the same track. She took control passing the 800m mark and was never in danger of losing the lead from there, going on to score another win, this time with Boris Thornton in the saddle. He sticks with the four-year-old here as the mare makes her Eagle Farm debut in this contest. Ideally drawn in gate four, she maps to take up the front-running again and at her peak after five starts, she should prove hard to run down again.
