BEST BET 🏆

Race 2:  No.7  STEEL MY THUNDER  ($2.50 with Picklebet)

The Jack Bruce-trained STEEL MY THUNDER is second-up today and with a gear change, could make her Gatton debut a winning one. Last start, the Capitalist filly resumed of a six-month break and on fresh legs, beat all but one home in an 800m Maiden at Warwick. Trying to lead all the way, she fought hard but was nutted on the line, beaten a neck as they crossed. The stable have put the blinkers back on her for this contest with Corey Bayliss sticking with her today. She gets the gun-run from gate one and should lead from that draw. Fitter for that first-up run, she will take beating here.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 3:  No.2  BEAUTY BOOM  ($2.90 with Bet Right)

The Lindsay Hatch-trained BEAUTY BOOM has settled in nicely to his new stable (formerly with Annabel Neasham) and already ticks enough boxes to suggest he will take beating today. Last start, the Spirit Of Boom gelding came off a first-up win, where he put four lengths on a BM58 field, here over 860m when he just missed going back-to-back, finishing second in Class 2 company over 1050m at Toowoomba. Justin Huxtable was aboard on both occasions and sticks with the three-year-old for this assignment. Already a winner when third-up and now a winner at the track and distance, he should be almost at his peak and looks the testing material here.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 8:  No.15  ROCKIN’ ARTIE  ($5.25 with Picklebet)

Scott Morrisey saddles-up ROCKIN’ ARTIE here who secures a run after early scratchings, and in top shelf form this time in, looks right in the mix for a podium finish in this contest. Last start, the Flying Artie gelding bounced back from an unplaced run on the Gold Coast synthetic track when he cruised to victory in a BM0-58 over 1350m, back on the turf at Ipswich. He was ridden for pace and led on settling and never looked like being challenged from there as he went on to win by two lengths on the line. He steps up in grade here but drops in weight and will be at his peak after four runs back. He had plenty in reserve last start and has Bailey Wheeler remaining aboard for this assignment. He maps to settle in the first half-dozen from gate six and placed at his only start here (first-up this preparation), he looks a major contender today at good odds.
