BEST BET 🏆
Race 5 No. 1 MIDNIGHT BRAWLER – ($3.60)
Rochelle Milnes grabbed the opportunity to ride a quality stay during the week, booting Smiling Assassin home at Gawler. Julie Branford & Hayley Dorward have asked her to step to the plate again, and Rochelle has landed on another quality galloper in MIDNIGHT BRAWLER. The talented local found his home town cup hopes dashed at the barrier draw when drawing closer to the carpark. Ran a brave race on the speed, though he really only does just get the 1960m trip at best. Thought he had them when backing up in the Kimba Cup when Callan Murray rated Midnight Brawler beautifully out in front. Just when he seemed to have fended off the challengers, Grinzinger Allee nailed him with the late dive. Back to 1750m a plus, and now it’s up to Milnes to rate her charge on the speed.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 1 No. 7 TANE TOA – ($3.40)
Rochelle Milnes did well to stay in the saddle on TANE TOA who was travelling as a winner prior to straightening here two runs back. Her horse just shifted out slightly as the outside runner seemed to lay-in, causing Tane Toa to stumble and change stride. Milnes regained her stirrup only to watch one sail past them with momentum. Settled a lot further back in a fast run maiden here a couple of runs ago. Milnes had Tane Toa chasing the city-bound winner I’m A Dexter with those two horses putting a good gap back to the rest. Tane Toa settled closer last start, only to find one horse a little too sharp. Rochelle can find a similar position in the run again to give Tane Toa every chance of finding the line.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 7 No. 4 ARTFUL AMBITION – ($5.50)
Caitlin Munro has had her hands full with ARTFUL AMBITION who has found himself back in the stables of Julie Branford & Hayley Dorward. Following a short stint of metro racing with Dion Koch, Artful Ambition made up a lot of ground over the 1250m here. Munro allowed him to find his feet early after being slowly out from the wide gate. They circled the field as the widest runner before pulling late ground off of the winner He’s Able. Found market support at his next start which was over this track and trip. Artful Ambition refused to settle under Munro which may have eventually stamped his undoing. Still foot tooth and nail up the straight with Classy Banner before both horses were tipped out late by Short Stories. Drawn similarly and looks like an each-way play all day.
