BEST BET 🏆

Race 7:  No.6  FORGET ROMANCE  ($3.80 with bet365)

Locally-trained by Les Kelly, FORGET ROMANCE is in outstanding form this time in and boasts a track record that suggests she will take a ton of beating here. Last start, the All Too Hard mare ploughed through a Heavy 10 to beat home a Class 2 field, here over 1350m. She recorded a new personal best that day, covering the trip, 1.3 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field by 5 lengths. She also posted the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race. That made it seven podium finishes from her past eight starts. Noel Callow sticks with her after that last win and although progressing to Class 3 company here, she still looks the one to beat.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 6:  No.5  SNOWFIRE  ($7.50 with Palmerbet)

The Team Sears-trained SNOWFIRE is third-up here and looks a winning chance in this field. Last start, the Star Witness gelding was second-up off a 14-week spell when he finished mid-field (beaten three lengths) in a Class 6 over 1300m at Toowoomba. He still ran the trip out, 3.2 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best last-start effort here by more than 5 lengths. Luke Dittman is aboard for the first time here and already a two-time winner when third-up, from gate four he is drawn to be a genuine contender in this contest.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 8:  No.1  AGENT OF MAYHEM  ($8 with Palmerbet

Local galloper AGENT OF MAYHEM has found his mojo lately and gets another opportunity to bring up his first win on home soil here. Last start, the son of Cluster continued to improve when he beat home a Class 1 field over 1400m at the Sunshine Coast. He covered the final 600m, 2.5 lengths quicker than benchmark and ran the fastest final 200m sectional for the race that day. His sudden improvement appears to have come since Michael Hellyer took the reins thee starts back and he sticks with him here as well. Down in grade here, he is still a home-track maiden after four starts but gets his chance to break the drought in this easier contest at odds.
