BEST BET 🏆
Race 8: No.6 ERIMO ($2.20 with bet365)
The John Size-trained ERIMO is third-up today and is well placed for back-to-back victories here. Last start, the Street Boss gelding showed a ton of improvement as he took out a Class 3 Hcp, here over 1400m. Crossing the line almost two lengths ahead of them, he ran the trip out, 4.9 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up. Zac Purton had his first ride on the four-year-old that day and remains in charge for today’s assignment. He gets the gun-run from gate one today and maps to be parked right behind the speed on settling. Already a two-time winner at the track and distance, he should take beating here.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 7: No.1 BEAUTY JOY ($2.80 with Neds)
Tony Cruz saddles-up two runners here with BEAUTY JOY demanding another chance as he is second-up here and draws a far better gate today. Last start, regular rider Zac Purton chose to ride California Spangle who went on to an easy win in the Group 2 Sha Tin Trophy over 1600m. Luke Currie rode this six-year-old that day who raced very ungenerously for Currie. Jumping form the car park (gate 14 of 14), he was under the pump from the start, and pulled badly to the turn. He was still there fighting to the 200m mark, but then the tough ride took its toll, seeing him weaken to finish back in the field. No ‘Spangle’ today as Purton jumps back aboard for this event. Purton has saluted five times from his six rides on the gelding and from gate seven here, he should enjoy a far better run already a two-time winner when second-up, he looks in the mix today.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 5: No.10 A Pal ($3.80 with Unibet)
Frankie Lor saddles-up A PAL here who is third-up today and looking good to record his first win at Sha Tin. Last start, the More Than Ready gelding improved sharply when second-up as he beat all but one home in a 15-strong field, here over 1400m. With Derek Leung in the saddle, he ran his last 600m, 6.9 lengths quicker than benchmark, second-best only to Czarson (who is lumped with 61kgs today). With a more favourable draw today, Leung sticks with him and should be able to have him settled near the fence a lot earlier from gate six. With a trouble-free run here, he is capable of going one better today.
