Race 6:  No.6  DIAMOND FLARE  ($3.50 with bet365)

The Mark Newnham-trained DIAMOND FLARE has been in great shape at his past few starts and after recently breaking his Sha Tin hoodoo, looks well placed here to bring it all on again tonight. Last start, Deep Field gelding came off his first Sha Tin victory and was shooting for back-to-back victories when he had to settle for second prize in a Class 4 Hcp, here over the 1200m trip. Luke Ferraris is two from two on the five-year-old grey and returns tonight for this assignment. We’re on the all-weather track tonight where he contested his past two events, finishing top-two in both of them. With the pace on up front, he has a solid finishing sprint and that could see him grab the major prize here.

Race 7:  No.2  CAPITAL DELIGHT  ($3.20 with bet365)

The Caspar Fownes-trained CAPITAL DELIGHT took an instant liking to the all-weather track last start, and looks well placed here to take advantage of it again. Last start, the Capitalist gelding stepped off the turf track for the first time and had every excuse to miss the money but a copy-book ride by Vince Ho saw him take home the chocolates in a Class 3 Hcp, here over 1200m. He missed the jump and was settled back with the tailenders where he was also pratted three-deep to the turn. Forced to go even wider on the turn, he never stopped chasing and thriving on top of the dirt track, arrived in time to claim that first prize, running the trip in a slick 1:08.5 as well. Ho sticks with him here and a repeat of that performance should see him hard to hold out again tonight.

Race 8:  No.4  ADEFILL  ($5 with bet365)

Ricky Yui saddles-up ADEFILL here who is four starts into this preparation and back in the winner’s circle, he looks well placed here for back-to-back victories tonight. Last start, the Deep Field gelding was fourth-up and peaked nicely when he too out a Class 3 Hcp, here over the mile. Settling near the tail, he had plenty of work to do as they turned where he was still spotting them eight lengths. But in the run home, J.Mac got to work on him where he found several more gear and charged home to grab victory on the line. He faces the placegetters of that race among several others here again and has an extra 3.5kgs to cart around tonight and welcomes Hugh Bowman as the new pilot for this assignment. If he can handle the rise in weight, he should take beating again.
