BEST BET 🏆

Race 2 No. 5 SEQUESAY – ($2.90)

The Tony & Maddysen Sears trained SEQUESAY flies when right. Trouble is she’s visited the vet with every second run she’s had. Put a line through last start at Doomben when jockey Luke Tarrant pulled her out of the race again. Showed her customary early speed on resumption over 870 metres at Toowoomba the start prior only to be run down late. Sequesay ran time while leaving good gaps back to the rest of the field with her second placing. Already a winner this track and trip in open class defeating Startantes. Form reads well and Sequesay can run them along again.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 7 No. 2 FLYING DEPUTY – ($5.50)

We saw an improvement in the last run of FLYING DEPUTY under senior rider Noel Callow despite the horse beginning awkwardly last start. Jimmy Orman has taken the call from the Toby and Trent Edmonds team who have taken the blinkers off here. Orman has also accepted for the ride on Brazen Braccia with Lauren Abbott having that horse entered in for Sunday. Flying Deputy had been racing fiercely in the blinkers and it is hoped he will settle better without them for Orman. This does not appear to be the deepest of maidens and Flying Deputy can find himself in the finish with a cool ride from the wide draw.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 4 No. 9 ALALTUN – ($15)

Former South Australian trained galloper ALALTUN finds a limited maiden in which to break through. The further they go the better for Alatun, and she will strip fitter for two runs this time in. Beaten a long way on resumption over 1625 metres at Toowoomba which was her first start for her new stable. Showed vast improvement when ridden to be up on the speed over a similar distance at Kilcoy. Wanted to lay out into the straight though was never going to beat the winner. Drawn nicely and has no weight on her back with apprentice rider Shannyn Stephan claiming three kilos.
